Hi all,

I just bought a car from Ontario. Do I have to use the form from the registry to get the out of province inspection done? Anyone have an electronic version of the form? Also, can anyone recommend a good detail shop? Thanks.

You must go to the registry and pay them their $7.49 to get the piece of paper, then take it in for an OOP, that is how it has to be done.
When you get the piece of paper, they will require the bill of sale, at least they did for my car.

I am in Calgary so I shouldn't have to pay any taxes correct? Also, the car is 10 years old. So I have to pay the registries for the form? It's not available any other way? Can anyone suggest places to get the inspection done? Thanks.

If you buy OOP from a dealer, the GST is still applicable, but not the PST.

When you go to the registries they will give you a print out of the government approved places to get it done.

But just a word of a advice if the car is lowered or has aftermarket exhust they may not let it pass. I had that happen to me. Some places are more tight on regluations then others.

I'm surprised that you didn't have to pay taxes, when I brought my car from BC I had to pay taxes on it for what I paid for it...
