I finally have some disposable income en-route, and I've been debating what car to buy. It's been between the Mitsubishi GTO and the Skyline. I love the lines on the GTO, and the AWD, but there is the RB26DETT and the ATESSA on the Skyline. It's always been back-and-forth like that.
However, I was doing my daily (ok, ok: hourly) search on Autotrader, and I think that this car just settled the question for me:http://www.canadatrader.com/result/detailinfo.aspx?ID=13924981&pgno=1&srt=1
I e-mailed the seller for the link to the full-writeup mentioned in the ad, which is this one here: http://neweraimports.com/soldcarDetails.jsp?carId=171.

I was wondering what you guys thought of it, I personally haven't heard of Mines before, are they a good tuning company in Japan? (and yes, I know that a Japanese tune is wortheless here, but it would indicate the quality of the car). Also, has anyone heard of NewEra Imports before? They look like a British company.

Thanks for the heads-up on Mines, I've never played any of the GT games.

And, yes, the R32 did get the RB26DETT engine.

i do have to agree with that comment. Alot of people import modified skylines and bump up the price when they purchaced them for 1,000,000yen (about $11,000 canadian) and by modifications I am talking about rims, suspension, some electronics and probably under the hood a bov and a fmic. and these guys are jacking the prices up to unreasonable prices.

now these I would pay $20,000 for:

don't know if this is legit but here is a bnr324 (an r32 gtr with a r43 front end) got for $1,000,000 yen and it has alot more modifications.

if you want to get a nice gtr buy one from japan, don't buy them from over here because they are way over priced for what you get.

exactly. those fuckign idiots think that they can bump the price for stockers to 22k? They say costed 25k to get it here, now for only 20k. God i hate ignorance.

That Skyline is deffinatly not stock. And you would be lucky if you could find and import all by your self a car of that quality in that condition for that price.

Remember when you buy from an auction you can get stuck with a whole handful of problems you dont even know about until it gets to your door. When someone takes the time to source and import a car of course its going to be marked up because that takes work not to mention that the value of the car does go up once its reaches this country because alot of people just arent comftorable buying from an over seas auction where they cant test drive or have the car inspected so of course that peace of mind comes at a price.

Umm, I know I'm the one that asked for advice, but where exactly did say that it cost 25K? And I know that a stock GT-R is around 18K, but like ThinkAboutIt said, this is not a stock car. Maybe try reading the links I post before bitching about ignorance.

22 is a bit too much I'd say. You can get some really nice cars here for that much money.
Plus consider if anything goes wrong with the car.
Get a car with lots of parts available.
I'm not sure if the Skyline shares parts with any other Nissan that is legal here but that's something to think about as well.
A 15 year old car can't be too reliable, especially one that was most likely bagged all it's life.

lol I imported mine for 9 500 !!! its got way more mods than that car and the condition is pristine if not even better than that one. :nut: I had to pay 1 400 in taxes on top of that though.

Mine's is some pretty nutty stuff but the price still seems a little too steep, sure it may be a GTR and "WOW thats ballin'" just remmeber that its still a 15 year old car lol and if its all modded up like this im willing to bet its gone through some pretty rough times, don't kid yourself, $22k like Lo)2enz0 said can prolly be put to better use....like down payment on a STi  hey its AWD, one of your criteria! oh right its a 2006 as well not 1990 :P but thats just me,
