Damn boyyyyyyeeeeeeeeeeee, seems this year I am getting OWNED for textbooks. Some of my classes never even used a text in previous years....but this year they all decide to use one and obviously it just HAS to be some book they've never used in the past.

One of my teachers is retiring this year...hmm..is it just a coincidence that she totally changes HER book (she wrote it..)for her last year of teaching and requires you buy it new..hmmmm.

For one of my classes, the book is like maybe 200pgz or less...paperback..really small...and costs $73.95. :nut:
What kind of freaking scam is that.

Have found a couple steals on used books which has been good but for the most part all my books are new. :guns:

How bad are YOU getting owned by these bookstore/University scammerz?

I order most of my textbooks used online at www.abebooks.com.

They are very cheap!! You should try them first before buying used at UofC.

I only paid about $200 for 5 books (3 courses). The good thing about Religious Studies is that we never use textbooks...only paperback novel type books.

Oh man I am so glad textbooks are included with the tuition at Athabasca. $578/course is expensive enough!!!

I will get owned with my gf's textbooks though, I encouraged her to borrow a classmates as I am willing to spend the night at Staples photocopying it. :D

Over $320 just for two freaking textbooks. And as my luck would have it, both are brand new editions used for the first time so no used copies were available. And to top it all off, one of the texts was just revised for the first time since 1984...the university had been using the same damn text for 21 years and then the author comes out with the new edition just in time to screw me over.

I paid $282, but 2 books are going back because I switched courses.....

2 of my classes have all the reading posted on Blackboard, gratis.
Only thing is, you have to supply the ink and paper if you want hard copies.

780$ for 5 text books, 2 are used.

Physics is brutal! luckily I get to use 2 of these text books for next semester classes.

Dumping alot of cash into school. I guess I better try my best in class so I can get something out of it in the end. I kind of slacked through my first year....still 3.7gpa in all math related classes :D

Got shot down in crappy general courses though.

I bought a book last semseter which was co-authored by the prof. Cost me $40, at the return store they offered me $2.25 so I took it and threw it on the donation rack. I went tothe bookstore today and saw the book was being used again, wtf? can't they give me more than 2.25 for the same damn book they are using again.

Just thought I'd give a quit rant.

Go capitalism.
