Alright, selling my living room TV. I bought this TV 3 months ago to learn how to do ISF calibration on CRT RPTV's, so the TV is greyscale and convergence calibrated ($500 value). Colors and projection guns are spot on.

51" widescreen 16:9 HDTV
480i, 480p, 720p, 1080i
HDMI (HDCP) inputs, component inputs

Actually here are the specs:

Like I said, this TV is only 3 months old, so you'll save tons of cash. Buying it new from FS would cost you $1870 after environmental fees and taxes.

Quick sale @ $1200. There's warranty left on it still obviously being only 3 months old. You're responsible for coming to my house and picking it up.

Here's a pic of it with Kill Bill in HD. Camera took away the color definition, it looks 1000x better in person.

61" JVC LCOS :D.

Wish the 1080p models are out already, but gonna settle for the 720p model. Wanna see if there's anything different with calibrating a LCOS display.

1080P DLP's landing in about 2 weeks from toshiba... using the new xHD4 TI DLP chip. You should see if you can see the rainbow effect on that?? Thats what I'm waiting for.

Probably will. Color wheels :thumbsdow. DLP has got to go 3 chip and do it affordably!

Sony SXRD and JVC LCOS 1080p is what I'm waiting for.

Perhaps I can jack the thread and inquire about the calibration process? Whats involved? Whats the advantage?? My Hitachi has the magic focus system, aligns the guns itself, so I never went any farther into the alignment process.....would it be benificial to do it?? I have to see what the TV can do in HD first though....

Color calibration basically sets up your RGB to be spot on. Feed a reference signal to the TV, measure the white level, and adjust RGB at low, mid, high to achieve proper white balance. Once that's set, any video signal sent to the TV will be properly color decoded to the display so you see correct colors for everything, dark, mid, bright scenes.

Convergence such as touch focus, magic focus etc, is only partially accurate. You want to manually focus the 3 guns, then setup the proper convergence on a grid. Toshiba has the grid in the user menu now so anyone can do it themselves. This ensures that the entire image is in focus without color bleeding in all spots of the picture.

I learned by first understanding how it all works, HRE patterns, color temperatures and all that crap. Then it's a matter of finding the service manual for each TV, figure out where to adjust the RGB cuts and drives, and buy proper equipment to measure the white levels and send test patterns to the TV.

You can usually pay a guy $500 to calibrate it for you. The equipment alone runs about $2000.
