Stock. Ford rates it at 390hp. With a 15% driveline loss 378 whp = 444 crank hp. Crazy impressive! :hitit:

That's impressive stuff! I've gone through 3 car mags from this month with numbers from this car, they range from 12.8 to 13.4. It's a pretty big margin, wonder if a few cars are coming from the factory "extra hot".

I dunno, there's a lot of factors that you have to consider. A car with a nice flat tq curve with 300ft/lbs at the wheels before you've even reached 2500rpm it would all be up to driver skill in launching the car. But these are early models and the chances of variations between cars is quite high. Slicks and a smaller pulley your probably looking at low 12's easy.

Slicks alone should do the job. Those mag testers run like 10-15 runs and take the best time, so it gives them a chance to get a really perfect launch.

A shitty driver making 200 launches is still a shitty driver!

Yes, but if you drive 20 different cars in one day, and each one is different its going to take you a launch or two to figure out to get something down the 1320 the fastest.

Uh? What I meant was that a shitty driver, no matter how many times they run a car down the 1/4, is not going to equal the times put out by a good driver.

Sorry, my bad. Your post was more than implying that most magazine drivers suck. I know there are probably a fair amount of them do, but not all of them would. They're taking 10 or 15 runs to make sure they get an accurate, repeatable number.

Thats the way it's gotta be done. A lot of the mag guys are former race car drivers, or at least they are wannabe racers on the weekend, which should give them some experience. And for the most part the numbers one mag produces is usually within 0.2 of the others, but there are a lot of other factors that play into their times as well, such as track condition, weather, car set-up. So there is probably more affecting those numbers then just driving skill. Who cares tho, either way the 03 cobra is going to be hella fast right out of the box, lest just hope it doesn't face the same engine problems as the previous cobras.

no one has answered yet "what is the retail on one of them???"

Because nobody's really sure yet :) The cars that are out being tested are rolling mules, they aren't official production vehicles. Ford hasn't set pricing yet as far as I know. Expect them to be a few grand more than the current cobra, but still nowhere close to corvette range.

I know it'll be a hell of a lot cheaper than that SLK 32 AMG =)

i wouldn't recommend throwing slicks on one and running it at the track, especially if the track hooks. i've seen more people do this with standards and either fry the clutch or break driveshaft, rear etc..
