Just seeing what people do to winterize their cars. It'll be my first time this winter for the car. I'm planning to store in a garage.
From what I've researched, and of course, everyone does it their own way and there are different opinions out there:
- put gas stabilizer in and drive around a bit to circulate/mix the stuff. Keep the gas tank full for storage.
- wash + wax car.
- over inflate the tires.
- cover up the exhaust, throw mothballs in or under the car.
- put a towel between the windshield wipers and glass.
- leave the parking brake off, put transmission in reverse, and blocks behind the rear wheels.
- if you want, put silicone on the weather stripping, lubricate hinges, etc.
- mixed opinions on putting the car up on stands (stress on suspension), but move the car every so often to prevent flat spots on tires.
- mixed opinions on starting the car every X weeks or not. It may do more harm than good if the car doesn't reach normal operating temperatures. I might start up the car every now and then, let it run and drive up and down the driveway a bit.
I'm just seeing what everyone else does and for any feedback.
Thanks
