Nice looking rims, for sure. Hopefully they'll have them in black & gunmetal, as well as the white.

Edit: New pics... wow, those black swirled ones with the red rim are HOT!

Wow, this is kinda sad... i man props to rota, they have one hell of a business going on, but when will it ever end. And people with legit wheels will still be rocognized for that.

Oh and apparently someone in the phillipines already makes a copy of m7's :(

With rotas you get the look , with the real deal you get lightness, width and strength. Although they look the same they are very different wheels for very different types of customers.

Rotas are wicked. I don't understand why people bash them so much. The argument is always that they are weak and aren't nearly as good as name brand wheels. I don't have the technical know how or the money to go prove it, but I am willing to bet they are just as strong as a name brand wheel (at least to the point where it matters).

Weight would be the only issue...

Forged Rotas? ;)

these ones are the sexiest of all. I'll take them in bronze with a black stripe instead of yellow.

They have new rear wheel drive staggered fitments too. 8.5 front, 9.5 rear.

That becasue so many have failed during the first batch from racing (subzero). But, the problem also showed up in many of their other styles that developed stress cracks which they tried to pass off as normal... The stigma is there pretty much forever .

As for wheels - they really are not that competitive compared with say Kosei or Buddy Club...

15X7 Rota Slipstreams ~ $800 -> 15lbs - 16lbs
15X7 Kosei K1 ~ $960 --> 11lbs - 12 lbs

Like Buddy Club many wheel manf also make non forged versions and you'd be surprised it's not that $$.

Compare a forged te37 vs rotas cheap copy, its like night and day. Dont get me wrong I dont have a problem with rotas. What I do have is people who buy them and think they are getting the same thing for 1/5 of the cost. Also rota does not make a multipiece rim. Its all cast one piece stuff, again nothing wrong for a street car but still nowhere near the caliber of ce28, an sp1, an rgII, or an equip.

No, however I believe the thread starter on honda-tech said that rota will be releasing forged wheels by next year.

Rota Group N > Mugen RnR :rofl: :rofl:

hey no body would have rotas if mugen and spoon werent so ridiculously priced. mayeb to some people its worth it to have THAT jdm goodness or if they are the hardcore racing addict to feel the need to have light weight forged rims. but for me its the rotas :thumbsup:

Rota has a unique suggestion method to determine what wheel to copy next. They have automated crawlers that hit up forums and websites and look for phrases such as:

"Rota will never copy the M7"

I wonder when we'll see forged wheels from Rota... and multipiece forged... that'll be sweet.

I have sturgled with the depate of price versus strength. When running R compound tires strength does become an issue but when you can buy a wheel that similar and weight and 1/3 the price, you can afford to crack 3 sets before it would have been a better investment. And if you only crack one wheel out of four, is it really worth sepending more?

QuasarCav
09-29-2005, 01:24 PM
If you crack a wheel on the track I'm sure the wheel wont be the only thing to break.

The difference is Rota is doing ALL the jdm designs people want, and are doing a good job of it. They aren't just ripping off the bland 7 spoke rims or konig verdicts every one has like all those other companies heh
