If the scanner is broken, I'm guessing the copier is broken too?

No, you can put the paper in the slot for fax and copy it that way

So tha fax still works? send and rcv?

The scanner doesn't scan at all and it make funny noise. The fax still work but once in a while you have to un-plug it to receive fax
