Thats my experience. Both of our TDI's travelling together, so it shows you that it didn't just happen "by chance".

Expect ~800kms per tank in city.

I filled up just last week with 48 litres, diesel over here is 99c/liter so came to $48 bucks.

I am probably coming back to Calgary this weekend and I might try and see if I can make it from Saskatoon--> Calgary and then back to Saskatoon in one tank. Distance from Calgary--> Saskatoon is ~650kms so lets see if its possible to pull a 1300km tank :D Will post up results later if I end up doing it.
Car will be on 19's on the way to Calgary and I'll switch back to stock wheels in Calgary for the trip back.

55L tank - All MK4 have same tank

But it will need to be vented to get 1300...... If filled to the very top... driving 110km the whole way it could do 1300 stock. not sure about with 19's though (see the almost 100km difference in range between the two cars in the other thread)

I don't drive a jetta, but I just bought an 05 golf tdi, and I got ~725km's and put in 46L. I know the tank wasn't full when I bought it though, but I don't know exactly how not-full it was. I suspect it cost me 50-100km's (perhaps 91, since that was the mileage on it at delivery?)

we generally get 900-950km in the city, and 1100 on the highway. THats in a Golf, but there's only about 40lb's weight difference.

900 city? thats vented right?

I have got 900 city vented, and 1250 not fully vented highway (if I fully vented it I could have probably got 1300)

Nope...woman driver, haha

We dont vent it anyhow, venting is not something you should do for city driving. If you're going to vent the tank for city driving, make sure you've burned off 3-4 liters before stoping, especially on hot days, as if the tank is that full, it leaves no room for heat expansion. (if you've ever left a full jerry can in the sun you know what I mean)

whats vented......

Venting is a procedure that allows you to put in fuel all the way up to where you put your nozzle in.

I've never had a problem with expansion, I think diesel expands less than gasoline too (I've never really vented fully for city either, I just put in a few extra L)

sorry i know what it is, i meant to say how do you do it....

Fill tank till it goes click. take out your nozzle a little bit so you can see in the tube, on the left there is a little tab thing push down on it (into the tank) and slowly fill more... remember to slow down more as you fill it up cuz you dont want a bunch of diesel spraying all over you:D

i see thanks...is this onyl fro diesels:confused:

yup...

I dont think you can do it on the MK5 TDi's either cuz they have some crap that prevents you from putting in larger truck nozzles (blocks off the tab aswell)
