Well, i successfully blew out each one of my speakers. Or at least i think i did. They all have a rattle coming from them, especially when the bass is up. I'm looking into getting some new stereo speakers for the car and i'm wondering what you guys would recomend from this site

http://www.cardomain.com/shoptype/2-Way+Speakers

scroll down to bottom. Which companies would you reccomend? I dont want to spend too much, maybe a $100 for a pair. Which ones would be best for me when all i need is a good sounding speaker. It doesnt need to be the best, just has to have good sound quality. And can i install these by myself or is it pretty complicated?

Also, one more question. My friend is leaving soon and he is giving me his 2 subs and his amp for free (pretty nice, has the little mirror to make it look like there are 4,lol). I'm wondering if i have to have the aftermarket head unit dealio with the subs. And how much would the installation of the subs and amp most likely cost me?

oh and one more question. whats the difference between 2-way and 3-way speakers? Benefits?

Sorry for my question overload:banghead:

yes you can hook up the subs to your factory cd palya with a high low converter. and it should cost you about 70 bucks at like best buy or circut city to get the subs installed without wires. I would recommend getting a after market cd playa or a JL cleansweep because the hi-lo converter does not do a good job on the frequencies so the subs wont sound as good. but if your looking for cheap go with the hi-lo converter. Also try to find a custom audio shop aroudn CUZ BEST BUY AND CIRCUT CUTY SUX

shit well, heres another thing that perplexes me. What do i get installed first? The aftermarket head unit or the subs? i talked to the guy at best buy and he said if i was to get a head unit for my car ( at the time i didnt have any interest in getting subs, just wanted the mp3 feature) and he said it wouldnt do anything for my car and it would be a waste of money. So what would come first?:dunno:

Well now that you plan on installing the subs, get the headunit first! With out the headunit you will be spending money on a converter so you will be able to hook up the subs to your factory deck, just makes sense to get the headunit first so its a direct hook up to the deck and theres no waste of money on a converter. Your head unit will also provide more watts to your speakers than your factory deck, therefore much better sound.

As for your new speakers, IMO and your price range I would buy the Polk Audio, I feel they are great sounding speakers for the price. Goodluck with the new system, and I suggest soundsurround for your install!

Polk Audio is a great speaker for the price! As far as the aftermarket head unit goes, its like this...... FACTORY STINKS! if you take good music and run it through the crap filter that is ford factory sound, you will get crap music . The process I recomend to my new to audio customers is as follows: 1 Get a good deck....listen to the system, 2 add a (some) subwoofers....listen to the system,3 change speakers.... listen, 4 amplify those speakers....... and listen. Everybody has their own tastes, and what sounds good will vary for everyone. this is just what I say to beginners, I also say go big or go home. its up to you. Good Luck with your car!

As far as saying the best buy guys (as well as others) suck, come on, really that is retarded...... these box store shops have some guys that arent very good sure, but they have quite a few perfectly competent installers. Soundsaround , A&B, visions, future shop, everyone suffers from this problem. Big shop or small. If your going to get work done on your vehicle, I suggest you talk to your potential installer and get a feel for whether or not he is worth your hard earned money. I know I didnt mind a quick talk with my customers at the time of the sale. Just remember , these guys are extremely busy so keep it realatively short and friendly. That will go a long way!

Ive heard them, installed a good few sets and always been pleased with their performance for the price. They are a good value speaker. Im not a Polk dealer, I have a store that does a number of different lines, but I am not on this site to peddle my wheres. These are good speakers for the price.

ok so i finally got set what i want to do. I'm just going to ask for them for my birthday. That way i'll be able to afford a head unit hehe. And my birthday is in less than a month so i'm good. But now i can spend a little more money. Wondering what you guys would recomend for $100 a pair. I'm guessing that I can do a little better than polk audio so what would you guys suggest for $100?

what about infinity? these ones: http://www.cardomain.com/item/INFREF6812CF?vq_id=none

MTX is another good choice for the dollar.
Personal opinion only as far as Im concerened they are all comparable in that price range. Polk, MTX, Infinity Phoenix Gold, Rockford, Alpine etc etc . Whatever. Try going into a car audio shop and using your ears to decide what YOU like. I am willing to bet you can find what suites your tastes easier, in person, rather than someone else telling YOU what YOU like. You might think Polk is the greatest thing since the invention of porn, or you might hate it. Same with all the stuff ANYONE HERE talks about. These are all opinions and its up to you to figure it out for yourself. Thats why we have these great stores and one of the many reasons why I advocate against internet audio sales.

Good luck with your search and Happy Birthday!
