Was just looking for show times and shows on Famous Players. Couldn't find info for SC and then it says thatthey no longer own them and that they are now owned by Empire Theaters.

When did this happen and did anything change other than the name?? Like food or snackie prices and vendors??

Yea, about a month ago, Cineplex bought out famous players. There was actually a post about this on here a while ago.

Yeah due to the "minor" monopoly issue, they were forced to sell a bunch of theatres lol.. too bad for them they couldn't choose which ones they sold. Colliseum and Silvercity were the best besides chinook.

Does anyone know how the movie-ticket coupons will work now?

Will Famous players or cineplex odeon tickets work at all theatres now or what?

Steps to enjoying a show at Silver City AKA Empire 16 (nice name)

1. Drive past Theatre to Superstore. (30 second drive)
2. Stock up on bulk candy and whetever else you want.
3) Drive back to theatre
4) Go buy your overpriced movie tickets
5) Take your seat pull out your stash and enjoy the movie and your realistically priced snakies.
6)Leave your garbage behind and exit movie

:guns: Overpriced concessions

Yes, I believe so.

I get tix through work for $7, I think that if you are a CAA member you can buy cheap tix through them as well. So there's no excuse to be paying full price.

The Sundridge theatre is still the best anyawys, because the chairs lean back. :bigpimp:

Wow, that's news to me, looking at it now they should probably take down the Famous Players and Silver City signs all over the building then...

I always thought Famous Players was way ahead of Cineplex, just a little while ago I think almost every major theatre in Calgary was Famous Players. The only Cineplex I knew of was Crowfoot Crossing.

Empire is only honoring them until Dec 31st - after that, no dice. But all the other theaters will take the movie coupons from either old company which is good.

Looks like I will have to now bring in my own Pepsi, along with bulk Sour Kids and M&Ms from Superstore.

I rarely buy popcorn at a movie.

Alas I'm a popcorn whore and so I get screwed for concession. Ah well! I do try and bring in my big slurpees though.
