Nice Restaurant on Somewhat of a Budget

So I have a lot of family coming into town from England next week and I'm having a hard time thinking of a place to take them out for supper. Im trying for a more original restaurant that they wouldnt be able to go to just in any city. Because of the large group of people it would have to be able to cater to a few different tastes as well. Im also hoping for a nice place as well but at the same time since I'll be paying for upwards of 12 people I dont want to break the bank either (hoping to keep it around $20-25 per person not including drinks).

If anyone has any suggestions that'd be great.

Cactus Club on Barlow would probably be a good fit. Reasonably priced menu, excellent menu with many different types of food, nice atmosphere, good looking waitresses, not too loud.

However if you are entertaining 12 on a weekend I would call about reservations. For some reason Friday/Saturday nights can sometimes be busy with people staying at the nearby hotels.

Depends on how they act. A lot of English family members I have are super formal, and would probably lose their appetite when the waitress from Moxies walks up with her boobs all hangin out.

Some of my favorites would have to be Open Seseme (Macleod Trail just south of Glenmore) and The Mongolie Grill (downtown). These are the kind of places where they don't have to ask questions about what's in each dish, they just walk up to the buffet, pick what they want to put in their bowl and it's stir-fried up for them.

Good selection at both places, tons of vegetables, pork, beef, chicken, a bunch of seafood, and lots of sauces to put on it.

Well under $25.00 a head.

If you want to veer away from Asian, then places such as Guido's (*BEST* italian restaurant I've ever been to apart from the now-gone Ercole's) or that little greek place on Edmonton Trail N or Center St N just below 16th Ave N (one of the two, it's a tiny place, but if you call for reservations you can get half the place to yourself), those two are among my faves. I will find out about where the greek place is on my way to the meet tomorrow and post in this thread :bigpimp:

Jacqueline Suzannes on 9th Ave (Inglewood). In a historic building (built 1912).

Most expensive item (Rack of Lamb) is $33, but most meals can be had for under $25 including the amazingly delicious "Sake Poached Salmon with Wasabi Aioli" ($23).

266-1005 for reservations (I'd recommend that you do make one if you go).

yea Buon Giorno is one of my fav italian places......it should fit within your price range

If they want "Canadian" food (whatever that is...), you can always do Earls, Joey's or the Keg. And don't kid yourself about the stuffy British. British men like boobs just as much as we do!
