what do i do to get new cdplayer to turn on?

problem with this sony cdx m730 cdplayer the front panel will open up when i press button and it will take cd in and spit it out if i press eject but i cant get any display on the unit to play the cd or radio...it worked fine in the hyundai i took it out of.

nope it doesnt.. just opens the panel up when i press button and then i tried pressing all the buttons it did nuthing.. the eject button works tho

in the back i pluggd in 2 wires. one is a cable type connector with a big wire in the middle and the other is like a connector which has 20 or so wires goin outa it..is for different radios the wire sequence different? i mean do i havta rewire it ?

hmm... you could have a blown a fuse (it might be that, or something else) inside the deck. some wierd shit like that happened to mine before, i had music, but no display, none of the buttons worked, but it still played music.

or you might've just hooked it up wrong, or didn't hook up a wire, or a bad connection or something.

i'm guessing fuse.. .. mine did something similar.. it was acting as if the ignition wasn't on. all i could do was insert/eject the cd and check the time on mine..

check the fuse box and the deck fuses

If you are getting power etc. than it may require a Security Disc that the person you got it from has.

My Eclipse deck does that exact same thing until you put in the security CD in. ASsk the person you got the deck from for it, but first double check the manual to see if the security is similar to what I have explained.

I think every one I know has learned that Sony CD Players suck, the hard way.

yea theres a reset button that it says to press after instal and i did but it didnt help.. i should prolly just rip it apart and check the the wiring is correct or something? or maybe i should just sell it with the hyundai .. i thought it looked cool but if i wont get it to work i can just say fuggit

it sounds like the ignition wire is not proper. if a fuse was blown, absolutely nothing would or should work on the deck. with it taking and spitting the disk, that means it's getting power. but not lighting up and playing is more than likely leaving the ignition wire to blame.

it's the wire that sends a signal from the vehicles key turn to the deck to turn on or off. usually it's the red one, but some makes are yellow. either way, it's one of these two.

ok i just put the pioneer back in and it works fine.. ill just keep it in there cause its my moms car and put the sony in mine when i get one

hachiroku is right, same problem happened with a friend of mine, deck gets temporary power just to eject and take in cd;s etc. The solution was the ignition wire, which turns on the deck when the key is turned:)
