Post up some pics after a cleanup - engine bay, and interior too.

What do you use to clean and condition your leather seats?

Did you know that there was that much wrong with the car when you bought it?

Changing a water pump on a SBC and on a BMW are two totally different things.

What if the clunk in the tranny is not the mounts. I would hate to see what kind of repair bill that is. It's not like you can get the parts from the local store either.

Did you get it inspected and adjust the price accordingly? I know it may look bigger than it actually is but parts on a BMW are not cheap.

The reason these BMW's are selling for 5% of what they soldfor new is because once the vehicle is out of warranty alot of people cannot afford to maintain and repair all the fancy shit that goes wrong.

G/L! I'm sure someone on here has a few leads on where to get parts.

That sounds like a lot of work to get done in a single weekend! If you budget ~2 hours for each project (and I doubt you'll be able to do some of those in 2 hrs), you'll need about 30 hours of work to get it completely finished!

Good luck, but sounds like quite the task.

Well not all of it will get done this weekend but if I say Im going to do 2 projects then only one will get done, so I make a list of 15 and hopefully I do a couple :)

Yes I had the BMW inspected before and no the coolant leak and a couple others weren't on the inspection, they developed with me driving.

I use Mothers on my seats, use the clear and the conditioner.

And for the dude who posted about parts and BMW resale etc... sure, look at what happens when you goto a dealership. I could take this thing in right now for this waterpump. The retail of the pump was $282 from my guy, which means around $350 from Dealership, plus $85 an hour and its probably a 6 hour jobby in the books. Very expensive.

Myself?? I goto my parts buddy, gives me a huge discoutn on the pump, $100, new gasket $2. Then I goto www.e32underground.com or bimmer.info, look into the repair process and how-tos on waterpumps, get all the howtos with tools and pictures. Goto work at it one day and I will have it done, for $100.

THATS where BMW owners get ripped off, the dealerhsip and what they charge for parts and labour. When your a DIY'r then its not nearly as expensive. Got to love having the sources.

I guess you guys would all laugh at me considering I've had no job for the last 2 months, paid insurance, gas, and am able to repair the car and still manage :) Its all about money mangement, I have poor mangement skills but i know where to spend it, and it sure as hell isn't at the dealership.

And its not exactly thigns wrong with the car, its general maintence is half the stuff. Painting valve covers? Cleans up engine bay, has nothing to do with price and hsit, I just don't like the ugly looking metal thats been aged, time to paint it. Oil change? Bah all you guys do them aswell, the only difference is my oil change I am chaning the oil pan gasket because there is a slight leak coming out of it by the looks of the block and such. Sway bar end links? Pift bushings get worn out, then you replace them and nothing happens, general maintence.

For the age and price I got the car for this is absolutly nothing in my books. If you goto CMS right now, look at their lot, they have a 740iL with shitty tint, .5L more then me, and a car phone that looks ugly. How much are they asking for it? over 4x what I paid for mine.

$400 in repairs within 2 months I can very well justify because these things last forever.

Oh yah and the tranny, its not really a clunk, just movement of the tranny and vibration, which makes me believe its a mount and not parts falling apart.
