So it looks like the town of Rimbey Alberta has been busy building a new track. So far they have an oval dirt track which doesnt do too many of us any good however they are in the process of building a 1/4 mile track which will have heated pavement. No roadcourse as of yet but its a start/

Where abouts is Rimbey?, is it far from cowtown?

Heating racetrack, thats sweet but damn thats gotta be expensive.

Its 45 mins northwest of Red Deer so its a bit of a hike for Calgarians.

Ahh crap, oh well, would make for a nice cruise going out there.

How come a small town like that (I'm just guessing its prolly small) is getting a new and HEATED racetrack, yet we have Racecity that is well, leaves alot to be desired basically.

Apparently the whole town got behind the development including the Kinsmen foundation. They see this as an opportunity for Rimbey where as the city of Calgary and all the homos in the suburbs see RCMP as a problem.

Rimbey, as I understand it, has HUGE oil/gas money going into the racetrack, hence the full heated strip. This track has been in planning for years, and it looks to be a well-run enterprise, considering that they planned and financed it in far less time than it took Art to run our track into the ground.

Rimbey is the same turn off from HWY 2 as Ponoka, cept you go west not east.

Any new tracks are good tracks! Heated too, does that mean earlier spring starts and later fall ends to racing?

Old info, but describes it well:
"Central Alberta Raceways is a new facility being built just to the northeast of Rimbey, Alberta. The facility will eventually include a 1/4 mile dragstrip, a 600M paved oval, a 500M dirt oval, a flat dirt oval for motorcycles, a motocross track and various other facilities. Grand opening of the dirt oval is tentatively planned for the spring of 2006."
