Shit... this is why Bow Bottom was so backed up yesterday morning. I saw the cops had blocked off the entire Bow Bottom-Deerfoot connector, but I didn't know why...

CITYBEAT - CITY OF CALGARY PRESS RELEASE
-----------------------------------------------------------------

On Nov. 2, 2005 at approximately 06:05 a.m., a 48 year old
male was driving northbound onto the off-ramp from Bow Bottom
Tr. onto northbound Deerfoot Tr. SE. He pulled his vehicle
off to the right hand shoulder of the roadway, likely after
having lost control on the icy street.

He exited his vehicle and was walking around the back of his
Honda CRV when another vehicle, also going northbound lost
control.

This vehicle, a black Jeep TJ, slid sideways into the victim
who was standing on the roadway. He was pinned between his
own vehicle and the jeep suffering crushing injuries to his
legs as well as internal injuries. He was then thrown several
meters to the side of the impact area.

He was transported by EMS to the Foothills Hospital where he
succumbed to his injuries several hours later.

Release by Insp. Paul Manuel

The investigationinto the collision is continuing.

Sorry if it's a repost, I didn't see it anywhere obvious.

I heard about that this morning. What a way to go... If the TJ was driving recklessly, I hope he gets what's coming to him.

ouch.

no offense to anyone that has a 4x4 and isnt retarded, but you see so many 4x4s who think they are more invincible in the winter. too bad 4x4 doesnt help you stop faster or regain control from a slide easier.

:werd:

defensive driving is the reason that some people drive all their lives in a vehicle that is sh!tty on ice, yet they never get into an accident.

yeah I was there when it happened, I was glad I was in my suv, drove over the curb onto the grass by the meridian to avoid the sliding cars, it was pretty shocking to say the least

normally im at the office in about 25 minutes, took me 1 hour 45 minutes!

What got me mad was peoples reactions, they see a multiple car accident, and see the cops close off the road, instead of being curtious you saw people trying to drive around the pylons, and screaming and honking

yeah your late for work, its the first snow fall of the year, it happens every year....................but have some respect, there was someone dying, and the mangled cars shouldve given you a freakin clue!
