A few of my friends wanted to go here this weekend but I've heard some mixed reviews and never been myself, so I was just wondering what I should expect or if its worth going.

I like the keg personally, good prime rib. And i like the fact that you can smoke in the lounge.

it's a cookie-cutter chain, which means they need to serve consistent food everywhere, which means that it ultimately has to be mass produced.

this is ok for some people, but for me i like to go to independent restaurants where the chef's are well trained and strive to serve great food because they have an interest in the sucess of the restaurant.

Also, the Keg can get expensive, may as well check out hy's or caesar's (and yes, i realize hy's is now a chain but it's NOT the Keg by any means)

If you want to stay within the chains, I've found the Outback is consistently better than the Keg.

I have never had a bad experience there and I eat there several times a year.

Hy's man...if you are a steak lover it rocks. Like nambis stated its a chain, low paid line chef, lower quality food and expensive for inferior meat.:thumbsdow

I eat there a fair amount but I find it inconsistent. Sometimes the food is pretty decent, but sometimes it is barely average. I always get the Lobster tail though, I don't like steak but maybe they are more consisten with that?

I'm a fan of the Keg's Steak Dinners, and their spicing is really good.

I also love their garlic mashed potatoes

:werd: They are inconsistent, so you may get lucky and have an awesome meal there, or you may not. I don't eat there anymore because of the inconsistency.

For Steak or Prime Rib, Smugglers is always by first choice. Keg portions are small-ish for my taste. And smugglers is also less expensive.
