Hey,

Just to let you know - in August 2004 the first R32 Skylines will become legal to import and register in Canada. There is a group of us that are getting ready to get our own. If this sounds like something you'd be interested in join up on the mailing list at http://autos.groups.yahoo.com/group/canada_skyline/ .

Good roads

Any prices, or other info that you might need?

hehe, yea this has been discussed quite a bit on our forums here. The first "batch" of R32 GT-R cars had build dates of April to May. 1000 of them were sold on the first day (sometime near August), so technically, you can bring the car in April 2004 *IF* you can find one that early. Most of the early cars were raced extensively, so the 89's are tough to find. Total production of R32 GT-R's was a bit over 40,000 cars, with only around 3000 in 1989. They're definately quite rare if you can find one.

The earliest one I found had a build date of Dec. 1989.

I'll have to search out the older threads then.

GTS-t's will be a lot easier to come by than GT-R's.

I'm hoping, with this mailing list, to form a Canadian Skyline owner's group, to share information, parts sources, plan meets, etc.

R-Audi: there is quite a bit of such info on our home page already.

Parts are a bitch right now... seems like everyone is getting raped on GT-R parts out of Motorex. There are some aftermarket places that have resonable prices for wear parts such as clutches, etc.

Yeah this will continue to be a problem for a while. There are a few shop links aside from Motorex on our home page. Of course there are always Japan, Australia, and New Zealand. The shipping will get you either way - the main advantage of North American parts sources will be time.

In the US they will be able to import without restrictions only once the car is twenty-five years old - by that time we'll be having R34s.

It wouldn't surprise me if within five years the Skyline scene in Canada is bigger than that in the US.

hehe the US skyline scene is pretty huge, remember, Motorex legalized the GT-R for use in the US, there's quite a few of them roaming the streets down there.

I just say that because we will have the great advantage of not having to pay $11000US or more to Motorex for the privilege. Hence they will be much more affordable here.

Yea, but don't forget the numbers are quite limited. It'll take a few more years before we get the "good stuff", namely the R33 and R34.

Not to mention that motorex does convert them to left hand drive

Some would argue that the "best stuff" is the R32 :)
