i am looking into the 300zx brake conversion for the front.

i was wondering if someone could explain the difference between the non turbo and turbo calipers.

also, do i only need the new lines, rotors, calipers and pads?

Everything you need to know. (http://importnut.net/300zxbrakeswap.htm)

:D

Make sure you get stainless steel lines, best investment ever brake wise.

You'll probably need new clips and pins for the calipers if they don't already come with them. If they do come with them, replace them anyway lol.

what matters is the internal wheel diameter, and the wheel offset, desing really has nothing to do with it, but from what im reading on that site
16" wheels with a 45mm offset should work :dunno:

You'll need a spacer to help the 7spokes clear the z32 caliper, 10mm should do I think. It might be a bit overkill though:D I'd rather run a bolt on space than normal 3-5 mm spacers, I don't trust those.

Actually you could be right.

If he get's the 26mm calipers, it should clear, but the 30mm calipers will not fit under stock 91 up alloys. If I remember correctly there's actually 2 versions of that wheel which were made under different manufacturers, and one has different ribbing on the back of the spokes, allowing a few extra mm of clearance. Therefore it can't really be written in stone that it will not work, we need to know what calipers he has and which version of the wheel.

so 30mm would clear the teardrop style? are the 300zx TT calipers different from nonturbos? or are they both the same effectiveness on a 240?(with stock rotors)

if you are upgrading to 300zx brakes why dont you upgrade to skyline brakes, my 300 has gtr brakes they use the same brake pads but the rotor is bigger and i believe they are 4 piston.

NO big brake upgrades will clear the teardrops unless you have a 1" spacer or something. We're talking about the 91-up 7 spoke alloys.

so that set that is on beyond would pretty much be a direct swap, and all i would have to do is change my pads?

is that right andy?

Hey guys, I just bought soem 300zx brake calipers off ebay and am about to get the rotors for them. I have the calipers now and have tested them with the magnet, they are aluminum, but I am unsure as to wether they are the twin turbo calipers (30mm) or non-turbo (28mm). The auction said they were from a twin turbo 300zx, but you know how much I trust ebay auctions. I was wondering what to look for that would determine what rotors the calipers need before i go and spend money on the new rotors that I cant return. (either the 28mm or the 30mm) I'll post pics of them tonight if needed.
