I know Im probably thinking premature here, but I was wondering if I could get some opinions on the dilemma Im having. In spring I plan on selling my car and getting a newer car. Right now Im thinking between 3 cars:

2004 TL (6 spd)
2004 IS300 (5 spd)
2003/2004 BMW 325xi/330i (5spd)

I dont really plan to do much modding to the car I get. Maybe a few minor things here or there. I think Ive grown out of my phase of needing a car thats 'fast'. So speed is not a BIG concern, it would still be nice to have some decent power though. Some concerns I have are having a rwd car for winter. If I went with the TL or the 325xi I could probably do with some decent all season tires. But I think I would much rather prefer a good set of summers and winters instead. And I want something that'll be pretty reliable for the next couple of years.

Oh and these are the cars that are within the budget I want to spend ($30-35k). If you guys have any other suggestions that would be great too!

I could be wrong, but aren't xi's all-wheel drive? If they that would greatly reduce and winter driving concerns. I'm a huge fan of 330ci's (don't know if that's out of your range or not?). From the exsisting list though, I would have to suggest the IS300, i've always loved those cars, and I bet prices will be falling soon with the introduction of the IS350 and IS250. As for winter driving in one of those rwd cars, a good set of winters and some smart driving should be enough. Good look on your decision.

yea...the 330ci is out of my price range
if i had that kind of money id probably go for a used g35coupe

why not go for a used g35 coupe, im sure you could find one for 30-35 k , 325xi is awd, so better in winter, the new is has an awd option, you could look into used gs300's or even used a4's

I think it is more important to deifne your price range first before falling in love with a car. That way you can get the best car for the amount of money you are willing to spend!

Go for the BMW.

RWD is not a problem in winter, just slap some good winter tires on them. BMW's are like all other cars, sometimes it can be cheap to service, sometimes expensive.

Reliabilty is great, german engineering

Xi is 4wd, but go for the 330xi. it is 4wd, and more power for the wheels.

Thanks for all your posts.
Have any of you driven these cars and would be able to give me a comparison with some pros and cons to them? :)

:werd:

I don't know why people have any concern over RWD in the winter.

ahaha id love to get a 330 but i tink it is out of my price range for the year i am trying to get

and for myself i live down a very steep hill so im afraid that a rwd car might get stuck. i could be wrong though :dunno:
