How to text message using my computer

Can I text message someone through gmail and if not through any other email service? If so how is it done as I have received text messages from friends computers before. thanks

The easiest way to do it is to use MSN. Right click the contact's name -> Send other -> Send a message to a mobile device. This does require that the person put their phone number in their contact info however, but most people do that anyway.

Also, text messages that come from smc.ac are charged at a premium over regular text messages. And these are paid by the receiver. So if you sign up and give them your friends numbers, they're pretty much hooped until they call smc.ac and get themselves removed. Definately not a friendly thing to do.

if the person u want to send a text to is with telus you can go to telus site and send them one same with bell and rogers, theres links to do it, might cost them money but not you haha i do it im cheap
