A plane flying with a constant speed of 14 km/min passes over a ground radar station at an altitude of 5 km and climbs at an angle of 40 degrees. At what rate, in km/min is the distance from the plane to the radar station increasing 1 minutes later?

Your suppose to derivate it then solve for dc/dt
I come up with the equation
dc/dt = a(da/dt) + b(db/dt) - (2a(db/dt)cos(Theta)-2absin(theta)) / C

That doesnt seem to give me the right answer
I know da/dt = zero

I have that exact same question for webwork. I did something up in paint for you to help you solve it.http://www3.telus.net/sabad66/amat217.JPG

I'm done all except #6 for 205

For number 6 is actually pretty easy
your 2 numbers should be the same
since the force is the same on both points of the bar
a fixed joints has the same forces as a pin joint

Better start on formal report! I didn't start until a day before it was due last year, and needless to say, I didn't get any sleep. The formal report is a bitch...

yah next two weeks are pretty Fubar. Got the formal report, and 251 drawing and progress report to hand in. Not to mention 2 math quizzes, an Engg 201 quiz, and the 205 midterm. Then comes the finals...

Formal report?! Is that for ENGG 201? And Nova do you mind helping me a bit with number 6? Could you just do up something paint if you have a few minutes?

do u know the date for the 205 midterm?

and does anybody know how to do #5?

thanks

Number 5
U single out the ABC bar
Then u use the triangle to find how much force is being pushed up on the bar
U have an
Ax, Ay, Bx, By, Cy

U know By, and Bx,
U find the moment about A to find what Cy is
then u sum the X and Y forces
to solve for Ax and Ay

Then u turn that into magnitude

Number 6

U first single out the BC bar to solve for C doing the moment about B
Then u sum the forces in Bx and By since u know C

hmm for number 6, when we find C, we have to separate it into its components right? If we do, then how would you do it with the 20 degree incline? Thx

Umm
U have it like

---/|
--/ |

The degree between those is 20
so then u use
Sin(20)c for the x component
and Cos(20)c for the y component

I fucking hated the 251 drawings! I had to redo like half of them lol

LoL whatcha doing for your explosive diagram
For my last drawing i did a butterfly knife lol
got a dog so i was rather happy

this one im probally just gonna do a legoman or maybe an old toy

yah i think its due tuesday

Nova316

The worse part of it is, if u dont redo your drawing u drop a grade point at the end of the course which is basically forcing u to do redo it
its like 5% for every redo u dont do

thanks

I put AC and CD in compression.

heinz256

hmm i only got CD as a compression force.
