View Full Version : Making your engine sound deeper/louder?

Is there any way to make your engine sound deeper and/or louder? Short of swapping the engine itself, obviously. :nut:

I don't want it insanely loud, just a nice deep rumble would be cool until I save up for that 454 smallblock

A good exhaust package can alter your engine's tone substantially. What car/engine is it?

how do you make your engine sound quieter then? (sorry don't mean to hijack the thread)

Speed more/larger resonator and take the 4inch muffler off if u have one.

It doesn't exist!

The 454 is a 454 cubic-inch Chevy big-block engine, a far cry from a smallblock motor!

Thats the problem infected. there is no such thing as a 454 smallblock.

The small 454s sell for $9,995 with iron heads or $10,495 aluminum, and both are covered by a two-year or 24,000-mile insurance policy that covers them for up to $4,000 in repairs.

Kay.

Intake will alter the sound slightly, depending on the intake youll hear whistling in low revs, or a whine when you shift, all depends...

If you want a deeper sound.. change the exhaust. You can make your engine sound like pretty much anything you want depening on what kind of setup.

Theres also 2 options. If your going pure show sound, and arent interested in the power gain aspect, just change out some components. On the other hand, if you want power, a full exhuast system is the way to do.

Flowmaster are known for "rumble" and deep tone, as are magnaflow. Doesnt matter if you drive a civic or a 1/2 ton... I put a flowmaster on my civic, sounds deeper, not as high pitched as some of the other mufflers on the market.

What really makes "the sound" is the muffler, of course if you change to a different resonator, no cat, headers, ect.. it will affect the sound... but in the end, the muffler is what really does the most of the work for taking BRAWP BRAWP and turning it into a good smooth sound.

Edit: and to make it quieter, your gonna have to sacrafice some power... 2 resonators instead of one, and smaller pipes will make it queit...

If that doesnt clear things up... well...

You suck.

Fuck that, that isn't no 454 smallblock thats a World block. Not the same shit. Your not pulling a 454 smallblock out of a chevy truck and rebuilding it. Thats spending over 10g on just a block alone. If the kid doesn't even know how to make his exhaust deeper I doubt he has plans to spend over 10gs just on a block.

I'm still fighting this shit. there is no 454 smallblock.

FROM WORLD PRODUCTS
and not an exotic, tall-deck block with a bunch of specialized components, but in a regular ol' Chevy-type package that bolts right into anything that'll swallow a conventional small-block Chevy

nope, that 454 small block will bolt right into my car

I'm in agreement with you; that's not a true 454, that's a 400 small block that's been bored out to stupid proportions. It just happens to have 454 cubic inches; it's not really a Chevy motor at all.

That's like cramming 470 people onto a Learjet and pretending it's the same as a 747. :dunno:

Bingo.....

Caprice dude, yes it will bolt onto your setup in your caprice, so will a 350 so will a 305 so will a 400, so will a 406 377 etc.. etc..

The point is, a 400 small block, you goto the wrekcers look for a 70's truck, match up the vins or measure or whatever you fancy is for fidning the right size. And pull it, bring it home, freshen it up and drop it in, mod it up and drop it in, do whatever and drop it in.

This "454 smallblock" is remanufactured, by World, to make for stupid amounts of cubic inches, not possible in a TRUE smallblock engine. Therefor in my books and obveously berkers aswell, this isn't a 454 smallblock chev, this is a 454 smallblock world products chev.

Not to mention for 10g I could find a hella decent 400 smallblock and build the shit out of it to rape that 454 since you would spend most of your budget just on the block.

EXACLTY its amazing how you can put such stupid shit into perspective... and fuck 454 go 502 or 572

streetarab

i agree, if i had the money i would get a 572

i agree with you its not a chevy but its made for chevys, not fords or mopars.

besides, the point of my original post was just to point out that there is a 454 small block out there, not a chevy small block, but a block THE SIZE OF a chevy small block, with 454 cubic inches;)

HAHAH this thread got jacked the F*** up
jk boys. I saw a civic with a 4" cat back. Wouldnt you lose power if ur pipes are too big???? Just wonderin...

AllGoNoShow
11-21-2005, 04:56 PM
You loose bottom end but can gain top end because of the flow you would get.

Ar eyou sure it was 4" catback? That would be hella expensive and isn't much of a ricer mod, more liek 4" tip 2" piping.

625 horsepower, drops straight into a Fox-body Mustang.
