View Full Version : Can't play my NEWLY burnt cd's in MY deck

Alright, so something really weird is going on. I've burnt 4 cd's now with 2 different types of cd's. None of them work in my Alpine deck. However, if I give them to a friend, and they put it in their aftermarket deck, they play just fine. So I would automaticly assume it's my deck. The only problem is, all of my other burnt and non-burnt cd's work just fine?

Does anyone have ANY ideas?

Did you switch burning programs?

try burning SLOW like 4 or 8x. I have the same problem with my deck but they work alright once i burn it slower. still have probs though. I found the LG burners always give me trouble. Sony burners work better IMO. Also try using the black CD-R's.

I've tried burning as slow as 24x, but not 4x. I'll try 4x. I think I have a lite-on burning, can't quite remember tho. I was gonna try those cd's on someone elses burner...maybe my deck is starting to kick the bucket after 3 years.

just like BokCh0y said, slow == better. In laymens terms, the laser goes "deeper" ;)

None the less.. my old BMW factory deck wouldn't read ANYTHING even the super hardk0re verbatim media unless I burned at <8x.

Oh, and some CD players dislike CDs longer than 74minutes, if your CD player is old enough it's still built on the Phillips 'Red book' standard and may suck balls. None the less, it's worth a few shots - burn slow, and don't overburn - at all.

Let us know!

my stock deck in my 2002 protege5 plays burnt cd's, just not mp3's with the folders.

my stock camry deck used to play burnt cd's, it was pretty picky about how scratched and cold they were tho.

alright, I burnt a cd last night. burnt it at 4x and I put it in the deck: ERROR. So I took it out, put it right back in, and after a few seconds of trying to read again it started playing.

As far as cleaning the lazer goes, do those cd's with the little brushes actually work?

i've never used a cleaning CD, but it might work?! little brushes? I thought they released a cleaning agent? Meh..

Glad it worked @ 4x :) ... Maybe its time for an aftermarket stereo? Try your local pawn shop, you can get something nice for less than a 100... ;)

Nice Douglas Adams quote in your sig btw :D

well it's weird because this just started...and it's a pretty good deck... 7893

I would just want to avoid having to buy a new deck if I had to...
