Ikea? I think I saw some beefy looking cooking stuff last time I was there.

Ribtor, down on 11th downtown.......They sell a bunch of restaurant supply like stuff, and they have about every size of cast iron skillet imaginable! Probably the best price too.....its a cool store in general....

I've heard cast iron pans are great to use, but there are some things you should read up regarding initial preparation of the pan and cleanup of it (which is apperently very simple)

Canadian Tire or Walmart I think. Incredibly cheap camping items.

I bought a few cast iron skillets from Superstore... very very cheap.

You can also find them at camping places like Russel Sports, Wholesale sports, and you may even be able to find them @ Campers Village or Army and Navy.

Just remember to wash the pan as soon as you get it in lightly soaped, warm water, and before cooking OIL THE PAN FIRST! or else your food will taste like crap and stick like a mofo to the skillet

Alright thanks, apparently you can get them at a lot of places.

I took a quick walk through superstore and didn't see them so I thought I had to go somewhere special. I probably just didn't look very hard.

Thanks.

industrial cast iron? I think any cast iron pan will last you a lifetime.

Yes, but these guys sell commercial food prep cookware, like 10-20 gallon pots, huge stirring paddles, etc...I would hazard a guess that the cast iron stuff is commercial too...not all cast iron is alike!

Would you actually notice a difference between cast iron from that place as compared to say superstore? How different can cast iron pans actually be?

The bay has a decent selection. Just make sure you know how to properly season and clean it before you attempt to use it.

MMMM, manufacturing oil eggs.

As for curing.

1. Heat the oven to about 275 or 300
2. Coat the pan with a solid oil, like lard or bacon grease. Don't use a liquid vegetable oil because it'll screw your pan up, leaving it sticky and not proper to cook with.
3. Fire the the pan in the oven. after about 15-20 minutes, pour out the excess now liquid oil, and then put the pan back into the oven for another 2 hours. Enjoy.
