Not sure about the ones you are talking about but I will get the name of one my freind just picked up for her 328GTS to store on over winter.

Try Rocky Mountain Hoist Services, (403)680-9079 he has good hoists, good prices, installation, refurbs. Everytign you need. Many of the guys on Pshop have used them, including Three40seven, owner fo the mustang shop, so the mustang shop is using his hoists.

Call Mike or Greg from Apex Hoist Services. They have always treated me good. They are in Calgary -- and are ex-Acura Techs

Yes hoists collapse? Why because people don't take car of them or they get old. It doesn't happen alot but if you maintin ur equipement and watch for things starting to wear or or frey then you get it repaired so your car doesnt fall off.

There's many diferent kinds tho. 2 post, single post, drive on. All depends on your needs and wants. If safety is a huge want and you have room, a sturdy 2 post with proper setup for the car will be fine, if ur afraid then u go with a driveon

I'm curious about pricing as well. I have seen a few hoist kits in the $5000-$6000 range, but that was a while ago, and was not local.

Rocky Mountain has ones local for cheaper, or they did a couple of months ago. If only I had a spot to put one :(
