That's what Scott Beairsto is up to this weekend.

He's off to El Mirage where he's going to take a shot at a record that currently stands at 213.556 on the dirt

a quote from his departure message;
" We're going after a 213.556 mph record on dirt! I've never been there before so I'll be happy with anything over 200, slipping and sliding, the bike will do whatever it does. Once again, I am grateful for the support from many people who help make my dreams a reality. Check out the SCTA's website at www.scta-bni.org and click on El Mirage for updates and pictures. We'll be the 4 Canucks with goofy grins. -Scott

I heard Scott had to "license up" on the dirt. That is making sucessive faster passes 150 mph, 175 mph 200 mph. It's standard safety procedure when racing on new surfaces.
I was told he made his 175 pass Sunday morning, whether he had time to make a 200 run, I don't know. Still waiting for results to be posted or Scott to get back to Alberta to fill us in.
