View Full Version : GN vs. two bikes

If the mods decide to move this, please show a link to the new location so the bike guys don't miss this ;)

Copy and pasted from another site.

There were these kids at the local car show on their crotch rockets tooting
their horn about how fast their bikes were. I mentioned to a friend of mine
how i would like to race them if they were game. They were laughing that a
car wanted to race a bullet bike. at one time during the day a group of
teenaged girls walked by. they were snickering and laughing to each other
how that is the black car that wants to race her boyfriends bike. I just
looked the other way and let them have their fun. The guy with the fastest
bike of the group asked me "why do you want to race us, My bike runs 9.5 in
the quarter. I looked up the specs on the internet, there is no way you can
compete ." I told them i was just curious to see how fast they were.

a couple months went by and yesterday I finally caught up with them at an
old local desolate road to see if they would play. there were two bikes
there an Yamaha R6 which is a 600 and a GSXR 750 that was bran new fuel
injected and he had it all fixed up he said. it was the fastest one and the
one that the he claimed ran 9.5 in the quarter. they had a group of people
there with them including the snickering girlfriends.

the first race was with the R6. it is the slower of the two. i knew if i
raced the faster of the two first then i would only have one race.

vs. R6 (http://www.engraver1.com/jase/jase1.mov)

vs. 750 (http://www.engraver1.com/jase/jase2.mov)

Nice vids, but it seems like your mission around here is to prove to the world a few select cars can beat bikes, and for the most part.....stock bikes.....

I think the point was that crotch rocketeers think they are the fastest thing around. Its the old scenario where one person talks smack and gets owned :dunno:

Yeah man, if any bike spent half of what you did to modify your car. There would be no race.

Big deal, a drag car on slicks can beat a stock 600 or 750...

I'd lap that GN in 3 laps or less, see the pattern...

Maybe you should try racing this, it's only a 600 with similar mods, guess what the results would be...

Man u said it yourself, you've beaten "small" bikes before. Race a litre bike and we'll see. 9.5 for a 1/4 mile time is bullshit, that 600 will be around 11.5 secs and the 750 should be high 10's!

First off the kids were tools, second there is no doubt that its a fast car.

So be it, why u gotta keep bringing this shit up?!? :thumbsdow

On paper, on the internet, we're all superstars....

Reality is much different, light to light on the street you'll get smoked by a properly ridden bike. In a roll on when conditions are favorable you can beat some bikes, I beat bikes in my BMW as well. Big deal.

If you want to race for pinks I'll bring a stock 600cc and run you from a roll from 60km/h to 150km/h. I'll pick the day.

A video of a drag race car (see the slicks, pretty sure those are not street legal, and for a damn good reason) on the internet racing squids (their launches were pathetic) is meaningless.

First off an organized race on city streets is completely retarded :thumbsdow

We can't go head to head at the 1/4 mile track. I've already stated that racing in a straight line is gay, certainly not what a bike is for IMO.

You seem to come into a bike forum goating the responses you've been receiving, for what purpose?

A 12 second mustang is not impressive, 600rwhp from a 5+L FI engine is

:dunno: what's your deal?

When you've run your 9 second, we all be impressed, until then, what was that quote, your a keyboard cowboy. (That is funny I'll remember that one)

PS the race I purposed on a 600cc would be in the wet, you'd lose huge

Actually, cars are capable of faster cornering than bikes. It's been argued for decades.

Top Gear has a video on it too if anyone has it.

Mind you a kia shouldn't be the example for the car either.

I think it was a Porshe 911 vs. an R1

The physics is a car is capable of more sustained G's than any bike is.

I think 'G' force is measured on a bike as the perceived force for the rider, not the bike.

You're right. I don't think they measure it using the same method for a car and it's driver.

But what I've heard it doesn't relate soley on tire tread size, and traction. I think it relates to geometery of the suspension, and weight distribution aswell.

Anywho, I'm no expert. This is just what I've been told.

The physics is a car is capable of more sustained G's than any bike is.

I think that the 911 lost against the R1 and I know that the Lambo lost against a GSXR1.

The one that the bike lost is posted somewhere here, it was a new gen of GSXR, but the car was a street legal race car, so you do the math.

Either way both are fast, why bother racing, its like comparing apples and oranges, they're 2 different machines.

This argument is going to go on till the end of time. :goflames:

You're right. I don't think they measure it using the same method for a car and it's driver.

But what I've heard it doesn't relate soley on tire tread size, and traction. I think it relates to geometery of the suspension, and weight distribution aswell.

Anywho, I'm no expert. This is just what I've been told.

well dont believe everything you hear

last summer.... data acquisition including g's

comparing data to the 'super porsche' in the calgary sport car club...

bike had more.

all corners, same track, blah blah blah

the roads are all clear right now, i don't see why thy don't just go find an open stretch of road now and take care of this once and for all

yeah but just cause there isnt ice and snow... there is still gravel, and its alot harder to see than ice/snow. in my eyes gravel is the equivelant of ice/snow.

EITHER WAY 89Coupe is just one of those people with "ive got a crappy mustang thats older than me (by the way ive got a restored 69 Camaro and if ur going muscle/pure power... a mustang is NOT the way to do it, lets face it mustangs arnt worth for crap, and they are a typical consumer car, everyone has a mustang, even restored ones, but not too many have a 69 Camaro restord) and i can beat bikes"

i LOVE how soo many people like to think that cars are faster than bikes. sure u beat 2 stock bikes (im guessing they were stock) but hmm let see.. ur car ISNT stock, lets see u go up a turbo'd 'busa or a turbo'd GSXR, etc. Better yet go up a 1000cc :D ur just one of those idiots that sit on there 4 wheels....

honestly i dont like to be cocky about bikes etc, seeing how i ride a 500cc but u grow bigger balls on 2 wheels than u do 4
