Saw that, they performed CPR on him on the bench. Pretty scary stuff. Yzerman and Shanahan had to get a stretcher from the other end of the rink. Then Shanahan and Lang brought over Fischer's gf from the stands.

So did they just postpone or did the game get cancelled? It doens't seem to say in the article.

Game's prosponed. Nashville was ahead 1-0 at the time with just under 8 mins left in 1st. They will add the remainder of 1st period to 2nd period when the game resumes, so a 27:53 2nd period.

He's lucky he had a seizure with so many people around him. If he was alone at home or something, he would be dead. Hope he gets well soon.

Do you guys think it makes sense to postpone a game like that?

I think they did the right thing. After watching a teammate and friend nearly die on the bench, I am sure the players heads really weren't in the game anymore. The team and management did the right thing by stopping the game.

Absolutely. Nobody's going to be concentrating on the game anymore, they'll just be worrying about their teammate.

Absolutelly. Game is just that, a game. This guy's heart stopped. Hopefully he recovers fully. Unfortunatelly, I don't think he'll play hockey again.

Yes I do, the guys heart stopped, if there's any reason to postpone a game, that's probably it.

I feel bad for the guy, I think his career is over.

Lol all the guy said was his GF is hot, what the hell man? Im sure we all dont know Fischer personally so we cant joke? Damn this world is plagued with politically correct, way to spoken people. Enjoy.

^^ To Hakkola. I agree. This, and the fact he was diagnosed with a heart abnormality a few years ago are tough things to overcome.

Detroit did the right thing though. Cancelling the game was a very good show of character, and brotherhood.

Exactly, he had to pass stress tests to play, and he did, but if this happens during a regular season game I doubt he'll survive the stress of the playoffs.

I wish him the best, but I'll be surprised if he ever plays in competition again.

Plus Nashville has an understanding of how it feels to lose a team mate to simular circumstances, I am sure it would have been emotional for them too with their loss of Zholtok.

I am glad the NHL showed class and cancelled the game.

I saw the highlights on tv. I also read on www.nhl.com that back in 2002 he was having problems with medical tests because he has "abnormally thick walls of the heart" (ventricular/atrium walls).

Not sure what will come out of this, obviously he'll have to undergo a ton of tests in the next weeks to determine if he can ever play again.

that was scary stuff watching them perform CPR and bust out the defibs...good thing he is alright!
of course it was necessary to cancel the game, who is going to be able to play or watch after that. a lot of the players were most likely on the verge of tears, nobody would have any desire to play.

A lot of you don't remember Clint Malarchuk.

If there was ever a good reason to stop a game, this would have easily been one of them.

i have seen the video before and trust me it is GRUESOME!!!
the blue ice in the crease, isnt blue for more than 10 seconds.
you would not believe how fast the blood poured out.
it made me feel equally as sick to my stomach as this most recent video.

Oh yeah he was the goalie who got his Jugular vein split by a skate. Man I've learned about what to do as a trainer for that... grab each end and squeeze for your life!

Who was the guy that choked on his mouthpiece and it cut his throat or something, blood started pouring out his mouth like mad. I remember seeing it on tv years ago, but couldn't remember who or what team he played for.

Huge difference, Pronger is still playing because it was a fluke that happened, he got hit with a puck in the chest in between beats and his heart stopped.

Fischer has an actual physical problem, his heart stopped because of heart abnormality.
