its probably the cheap ass ones. I tried out the "madkatz" (some other name, same shit) and they werent that great quality wise.

If you have some torx screwdrivers and a soldier iron you can do it REAL easy. I have mine modded for digital coax, s-video, and composite video out. Real easy. Check out www.xbox-scene.com under tutorials if you want to know how.
