I just got Shaw High Speed installed and they gave me this disc that I can use to download a shaw based internet security program that includes a firewall, spyware blocker, anitvirus etc.

Is it worth it to do this or am I better off to invest in a Norton antivirus or a McAfee kind of thing?

Is windows firewall sufficient with a decent antivirus program?

norton and mcafee SUCK.

use a router for firewall and MS anti-spyware, or windows firewall instead of a router I guess.

I am using a wireless router as I don't have a desktop, just a notebook. I downloaded a McAfee 30 day trial. I enabled my Windows Firewall as well.

Is an encrypted router a sufficient firewall?
I also downloaded Ad-Aware for spyware protection?

Any other suggestions?

if you have a router, thats will suffice as a firewall, just dont forward ports that you dont need or set any pc up as a dmz unless that pc has some firewall software.

the hardware firewall will be better than any software solution.
