do a search and you'll probably find a 4 pages + page about how much ppl paid for their insurance.. but personally i dont have a car yet, but i've got a fewquote from state farm back when i was 17 and it was 3200 for a 97' eagle talon or 3100 for a 2000 VW Jetta..

quite cheap i think

I have talked to my broker and she said that companies keeps on raising up the premiums now because of "losses" moneywise. I hate insurance companies!

We should have a single insurance company like in vancouver and winnipeg

Look into TD. They got some really good rates. Currently, I'm paying like $1700 as a part time driver under my dad's name. I called TD and they quoted me like $2100 or $2200 full time under on my own.

There was another insurance company that's been referred to on this board several times, but I can't remember what it's called. Like Stratus_power said, just do a search and you'll find a shit load of posts on this topic.

Before I was paying $4000/year part time on my BMW but that was because Allstate was ripping us off!

I'm switching insurance companies to TD when my new car comes in and I will be paying $2400/year for full coverage vs. $4300 with AllState!

As far as I know, if you are claims free for 6 years, TD will give you about a 40% discount compared to other insurance quotes....I'm going to take advantage of that because I'm turning 22 in October!

Damn, Looks like TD has good rates.

AllState is one of the most expensive in the industry for young drivers. I've read a few articles on them recently, quite the money grabbers. There's better coverage out there for a better price, you just have to call around.

 to the guy/gals who have the policy in their name and work hard to pay for it themselves.

Life is good when you hit 25, my rates dropped HUGE. , Full coverage on the supra, full replacement value , 2 mil liability, etc, $500 deductable = $72 a month. I have a few tickets too.

LOL
Maybe if his Prelude was 1991 or something.....

Anyway, $7500 sounds about right, I was quoted that price when I was 18 driving my 2000 SH but I went under the folks as part time and still paid $5400 lol:rofl:

And customers were wondering why I was so nice to them....

The Personal. They've been around for about 30 years and are a subsiduary of Zurich, one of the worlds largest financial institutions. They give pretty substatial discounts to families who insure all their cars/home with them.

It really pays to flip through the yellow pages and make some calls. People almost never research their insurance companies, they just go with what friends have or the parents have or whatever, and then after that they just stay with that company without asking questions, they just keep forking over the cash.

Every year I shop for rates, takes about an hour, and every year for 10 years The Personal has provided the best coverage for the best price. Your mileage may vary.

TD Insurance has the best rates I found. Your rate drops every year as long as you keep a clean record.

on my 95/96 lude when I get it I will be paying $2700/year with $500 deductible for comprehensive and collision and $2M liability. It's a bit more for a 97-99 lude. This is under my name (I'm 22) and through TD Insurance. On my CRX (same coverage as above) I was paying $1400.year. It was great!
Go to http://www.kanetix.com and put in all your info and it will spit out quotes for a bunch of different companies for you to compare. You'd be surprised how much they differ. TD always seems to be the cheapest, sometimes buy as much as $4000/year. Take a look for sure.

State farm is shit! I'm covered through them, PLPD and Comprehensive ($250.00 deductable) and pay just under $3000/year.

I bought a "replacement" car today, and I phoned them to put a days temp insurance on it so I could bring it home because private sales don't usually involve dplates, and they wouldn't do that for me, They said I would have to pay for a whole month to drive it home, then I could "pause" my policy until I wanted to drive it again... what BS. I sold the car to my dad and he phoned his broker and they put insurance on it for the day, even faxed us pinkslips, now that's convenient, but they were like $6K/year for me with the same coverage so I didn't go with them :S

The other thing that state farm sucks for is modifications, your policy will be voided if you have 15% power gain or modify your suspension set up and it was not approved by your agent! So basically me dialing up my turbo and putting not adjustable shocks in, instead of adjustable voids my insurance... of course I don't tell them, so it's all good.... but I'll be lookin for a new company soon.... $260/month is too much for that bullshit... oh and the bitch of an agent hung up on me when I said they were an inconvenience to me! I hadn't even started yelling at her, too bad I didn't start with that.
