DaimlerChrysler and Brabus are hoping a Smart forfour with racing seat belts and a roll cage will pull the crowds at the Essen Motor Show in Germany. The concept car serves as a technology demonstrator and will be presented to the public for the first time this week. The smart forfour concept car has a turbo engine delivering approximately 154 kW (210 bhp). The maximum torque exceeds 300 Newton metres and the vehicle achieves a maximum speed of more than 235 kilometres per hour. The concept car has a racing brake system that is served by a new master brake cylinder and completely fills the 17 inch rims.

In addition to the roll cage and racing seats with a five-point belt system, further changes have been made to the interior. There is no rear seat bench or interior trim as comfort is not of primary importance in this car. The Alcantara trim on the instrument panel and centre console is an exception to this. Further changes include the instrument cluster with white back lighting and changed needles and dials.
