What would be the best new car to buy? I want a sporty car that I would be able to modify, get body kits and things like that for. It can't be too expensive either, it will be my first car! I want something like a honda civic, but it can't get a used one and the new ones are kinda fruity looking. I like the subaru WRX's. Does anyone else have any suggestions?

There's no answer to that question "What's the best car?". All cars are different and different people like different things. Go test drive the ones that look nice, do some research and from that you will realize the best car for you. If you are looking for suggestions, you have come to the right place.

My top 5 realistic cars:
Prelude (gen 5), 240sx 90-98, Imprezza, IS300, Celica GTS (2000+)

the IS300 is like $15000 more than the next car on your list.
Actually, you could probably buy any of those cars on your list plus the 240sx and spend the same amount as an IS300.

It's not like it's a Diablo or Buggati. It's a realistic car, you COULD afford one. I must admit that car doesnt really fit in the other cars price range. 43k for a nicely equipped IS300, that is some what expensive but possible.

Toast is talking about getting a Civic...and someone brought up an IS3....those are a little different aren't they? my suggestion would be go pick up Januarys issue of SCC they test 8 sport compacts for under 20k (USD) they compare them and give the pros and cons and the first three things that they would modify

I hope this helps

He brought up a WRX. For the price of WRX, you can buy a used IS300. I am going by the vague description of price range that he said.

Drew well actually, if u want to get down to it..one of the critisisms of the is300 is that it "drives like a civic with rwd"

What about the SRT-4? The new Accord Coupe's are nice, too. Maybe a regular Impreza if the WRX is to expensive.

how bout an itr, they are nice cars, handle well, and have good power with lots of options for modding, don't know if this is in your price range, but a suggestion anyways

It's a fine tuned racing machine, that is better than the prelude and I am an idiot for thinking other wise ;)
