That was an outstanding game. I thought they were done when Montreal scored the TD first...

Ricky Ray earned his strips tonight no doubt!

I hate to see him go, but I hope Jason Mass gets his own team next year. He is too good to be a back up...

AWESOME!!! WHAT A GAME!!
YES BABY.. WE ARE THE CHAMPIONS!! ESKIMOS RULES!!

Man, going into OT,everyone is on their edge of the seat.

Game would have been over in the 4th, when 2 Eskimos couldn't pick off the juggling ball.

But in OT and the rest of the game, Ray delivered.

Calvillo with the 2 pass play?!?!

Great game!! Alston with the big play in OT sacked Calvillo!!

AWESOME!!

ESKIMOS # 1!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

=============================

Black Eye Peas half time show. Was the audio from CBC screwed up? or was that their performance? Seemed like the music was kinda low and they were all over the place.

I'm surprised they sang 'Humps' as the game is a family event.

Regardless, Edmonton Eskimos are the Champs!

Nice 96 yard punt return... Brutal drop on that last long throw.

Yeah excellent return from Tomkins (believe that's the longest punt return in a Grey Cup game).

That brutal drop by the Alouettes in OT wouldn't have counted. Calvillo threw the ball twice on the play.

BEST GAME EVER? Consider this:

FANS? A near record 59,000 stood on their feet all night. You could hear the boos when Paul Martin tried to steal the spotlight, and the cheers were loud enough to draw several illegal procedures. The fans were into all night!

RECORD-BREAKING? Tompkins returned a kickoff for a record 96-yards to stop the charging Als.

BREATH-TAKING? The first OT in nearly 50 years of Grey Cup play ended with a clutch Esk TD and 2-point convert with 1:03 remaining, a Al FG on the last play in regulation, two brilliant TD catches in OT, and a FG to seal the game.

REDEMPTION? Ricky Ray shook of a long slump to pass for two clutch TDs while Fleming came back from a trying season to ice the game with a 36-yard FG in OT.

ACTION? Calvillo and Ray went through the air for over 700 yards of non-stop action. Nearly 15 receivers got into the act with brilliant catches by Cahoon and Mitchell down the stretch.

CLUTCH? Consider Stala's catch through interference in OT, and Tucker's diving TD catch to tie the game in OT. It doesn't get any better.

HITS? How many players left the game in crutches? The Als line punished Ray all night, and the Esks secondary crushed airborne Als repeatedly.

COACHING? The most successful coach in CFL history facing the fan-cum-prodigy. Matthews reviles the Esks for chasing him out of town a few years ago, and Maciocia get his start with the Als as a volunteer and hit the ground in tears as he capped off his rookie year as head coach of the Esks.

REFFING? Heck, even the refs had the make a great, if arcane, call on the second last play when Calvillo made two passes on the same play.

The best CFL game in the new millenium? Easily. The best CFL game in history? Possibly.

I was shocked when watching the live play. I thought Calvillo fumbled the ball and then the ball got thrown.

Calvillo did make a great 'bootleg' play. He even fooled the camera man and audience on the 1 yard line for the TD.

Great game.

It's odd to see my ex-manager as one of the officiating refs in a Grey Cup game.

I'm glad he's still continuing to carry out with one of his pastimes.

I watched untill just after that... what an amazing run by a rookie.

I am glad at least an ALBERTA team won!

For those who worked or missed the game and want to watch it. It's aired again now on CBC (12:22AM - Monday morning)

Definately one of the best CFL playoff games if not the best.

You guys notice that the stadium was a sell out of 60,000+. Most fans in the stands were BC Lions fans! Sold out 2 weeks ago.

I guess they bought tickets well in advanced hoping Lions would be playing.

A big thanks goes to Vancouver for putting on a great show.

Next year, Winterpeg.
