Anyone here want a rex? :P

1986 Mazda RX7
230xxx KMs EDIT: I was wrong it was 245000kms, sorry
Body is silver, in decent shape
Red interior
new batt, new alt, engine runs great
Dynomax (or mebbe it was Magnaflow, not sure) exhuast
tint
18" rims with summer tyres
stock 16" rims w/ winter tyres
CD deck

Car needs (from what I know) a new clutch. She'll start up just fine, but you can't drive it anywhere, clutch feels normal but no matter what gear you are in it doesn't engage.

$1000

Not sure of the model, just a base non-turbo with the 13B. Has a sunroof, AC, cruise, power everything, factory security system, selectible ride, leather, pretty much every option I can think of.

As far as damage, not 100% sure. I know there is some rust, but I'm not sure how extensive it is. It's my buddy's car, and the clutch died when he was down visiting for the weekend. So now it's sitting in my backyard with the battery disco'd. I'll look into it more tomorrow when its light out for damage etc.

I love my GXL during the winter (while it ran..)
FYIA it comes equiped with a LSD and 4 pot calipers = the best model save turbo and turbo II. Good luck with the sale!

Ryan, here's what you do.

Take that 13b, and put it in a ford festiva.

Take that RX-7, and put an LS1 in it.

$1000 dollars eh. Tempting. But $1000 into the Z would get me into the 13's, so I'll just concentrate on one project at a time. Maybe a fun car for the GF?

Ok, the good the bad and the ugly:

Just went outside and brushed a foot of snow off her, started her up, etc.

The Good:
She started right away, hasn't been plugged in all weekend and it's been cold as hell, started with 0 hesitation, the engine seems really strong.
My buddy told me that the brakes were just done on it too, so you can add that to the list with the new alt and batt.
Heater works good.
Just noticed it looks like the stock rear speakers were replaced with Alpine Type-Rs.
It has AC

The Bad:
Just the aforementioned clutch (I think) issue.

The Ugly (aka damage):
All the rust has been ground away, and he tried to fix it. It's not pretty, its just primered, but the rust has been stopped at least for the moment. The only places I saw rust repaired was at the top/back of the passenger's side rear wheel well, and at the very lower front corner of the same well.
There is also a small bubble of rust on the hood.
The front bumper has some minor scratching.

I'm around all day today (damn school) so give me a call if you want to take a look at her (403-795-0198), I'm on the west side.

Oh, 1 more thing, the actual sale (aka filling out the bill of sale, taking possesion, etc) can't actually be completed until the 13th (next tues). My buddy works rigs and that is his first day off, so he will be down then. But I'm more than willing to hold it til then (aka I won't tell you we have a deal and then sell it to someone else).

Forgot to mention one more thing, the leather is a bit worn, and there is a tear in the driver's seat side bolster.

Got any pictures of the primered sections (rust fixing)

So pretty much if this car got a new clutch/flywheel resurfacing + a new paint job and dying on the interior itd be ready to go?

More pics please!!

Sorry, I really don't have any more pics, and no digi cam.

If you replaced the passengers rear quarter (or welded in a patch, or used bondo if you're into that), ground out the rust bubble on the hood (only surface), and had the front bumper refinished (if minor scratches bother you), then it would be excellent cosmetically.

The tear in the drivers seat is decent sized, maybe 5 inches long. So it would need to be stitched or recovered. The seats don't really look that bad, just what you would expect for a 19 year old car. Dyeing would help, certainly.

But if you wanted a car that looked decent (the fixes aren't that noticible), went good, and was reliable, you would just need to replace the clutch or whatever's causing the problem.

I'm not 100% sure it's the clutch, but that is only because of ignorance. It's the only thing I can think of, but I can't guarentee that that is precisely the problem. If you had more mechanical knowledge than me I'm sure you could tell.
