My headlights complely crapped out on me tonight just as I left work. so I have NOTHING except 4ways, and I needed to get home Otherwise I would have Left it and waited for a ride...

I was on Deerfoot doing what I thought was about 110 (couldn't tell, had no dash lights)and I drove all the way from Memorial to about anderson and then I noticed a Cop Car following me but no nights on or anything, I was like "FAWK!"

So I turned into DouglasDale and the lights and siren came on, and I knew they would. I pulled into the DQ parking lot and Parked, rolled down my window and the Cop walks over and says "Whats going on!"

I explained that my headlights and dash lights crapped out on me, and he wouldn't believe me at first till I showed him.

He explained that I was going pretty fast. ;)

He took my Licence and Reg. back to the car, and was there for just shy of 10 min, and I figured well fawk, heres some Pointts Funding comming up!

The cop came back, handed me my licence and registration and said Follow us!

I'm like AWWWWW Crap..

So I followed them back onto deerfoot south and I was wondering Where the hell they were going.

They gave me a escort home with their lights on, it was great!

I was so happy.

so yeah, my night went from Shit to Super pretty quick.

Finally, a good post about the cops! They are in a tough line of work and have to deal with a lot of crap on a daily basis. You treat them with respect and they will too:thumbsup:

Haha Nice man...thats sweet that they threw on the lights. You should have slapped on a few flags to the side of your hood and pretended like you were the president of Uruguay or something

It's good to hear that there are some nice cops out there and that not all encounters with them are negative. :)

I've had the same experience - my headlight/taillight/signal light fuse blew once while driving at 4am in the morning, and as luck would have it, seconds later a cop pulls behind me. I didn't even bother driving. I pull over, he pulls behind me and he asks me why everything is out. I told him nothing is working, he made sure of that, and he told me to get home and keep the car home until I fixed it. He even drove me within blocks of my house (without the lights, however). Nice cop. One in a million ain't bad.

That's good to hear! Now that's a cop that really try to Solve ppl's problem instead of writing about them on a ticket.

So did you figure out what the problem was with the lights? Just a fuse of something more serious?

I totally agree with MB. Sure it sucks to get pulled over, maybe even get a ticket but their just doing their jobs. The times I've been pulled over all the officers have been nice to me, and even if I got a ticket. Just ask yourself this one question: Who the hell are you going to call if someone breaks into your car or home? Trust me we need law enforcement in Calgary. So cut them a break. Look at what they did for Ben. Once again police officers aren't after certain types of people, only to serve and protect the community.

 Funny thing is, I could almost see him doing that for some reason

its pretty much true though, if you treat the cops with respect and don't dish out the attitude, they usually go easier on you or let you off completely.

Okay, i'm sittin my my Type R with some friends trying to find the phone number on a building that's up for lease. A cop pulls behind me and asks to see my Licence, Registration, and Insurance. I give him all 3 being very polite, he comes back and tells me that my Insurance is out dated and i should find him the correct one. So i'm thinking SHIT where did i put it. I can't find it so he writes me a $57 ticket. I get home and look at he Insurance paper i handed him and it IS still valid until July 2003! I'm like what the F*** is this cop an idiot??? I go to court the next day and the Judge tells me it's going to be my word against the cops and 100/100 times they take the cops word over anyone elses! GREAT!!!!!!!!!

Just a quick note for anyone who does not know this.......

It is illegal, $60-200 fine, for carrying old registration slips in your car, even if you have the current and valid one too. They can charge you for each one that you still have laying around inside your car. I didn't know this but now i do....

the same thing happened to me except i told him right there and then that he was wrong. we argued for about 5 min untill i not so politely said "look jackass it says right there where it expires, i have know idea what youre reading but youre wrong!" and i pointed to the correct date.i didnt get the ticket for "no insurence", but i deffinetly got the speeding ticket he pulled me over for.

aside form that particular incident, ive been extremely polite to cops and they have treated me with the same respect.

I have personally been nice to cops/rcmp as being negative never helps the pull over, and I can tell you some of my police pull overs has been outwrite harrasment. I carry a tape recorder in my car now, otherwise one is helpless in this situation. I did not realize the calgary police were hiring "ex-US Army drill sargents!" My heart is beating and my blood pressure is boiling at this moment thinking about a few incodents......

There are some nice cops, but they have turned me into HATE! And it's all there fault!

Trying to calm down now.
