View Full Version : Ebay inter cooler kit

Hey guys, my buddy has an sr20 in his 240 and wants to do an FM intercooler upgrade over the winter. He was looking on ebay (I know bad idea) and saw this one:

He is really wants to get this one since it seems to be of highest quality, athough I don't know too much of turbo applications, I do know that ebay is not the best place to get "kits" in terms of quality. I'm trying to talk him into getting the greddy kit, but even I must admit $1300 is alot to spend for 20 hp; if that. He plans on eventually pushing about 380hp eventually over the next couple of years through turbo, stroker kit, etc. but thats gonna take atleast the next couple years. What do you guys think? BTW this intercooler is from Hong Kong. Lastly what the hell is the difference between a bar and plate design and the "GT spec" design?

ha, $0.99 item with $518 shipping........Fuckin ebay.......intercooler looks ok otherwise...

what's the diff between the gt spec and the bar and plate design? any advantage to either? I cant believe 2 positive post about an ebay item... wow...

-that core is total overkill for what your buddy wants... its like twice as big as he needs. why wait around trying to pressurize that thing when he could get a smaller more suitable core?

-0.2 psi drop at 23psi ... that is crazy low. not always a good thing ...

-"gt" and "rs" are just what the seller calls them ... youll have to ask him if they are tube n fin, bar n plate, or whatever

- not all intercoolers are created equal ... but thats not to say this is a bad one either. there is lots of good info out there on the web ... tell your buddy to start googling for info if hes serious

-dont forget to add tax/duty/fees/etc to that price when it arrives :thumbsdow

-if he gets it, let us know how it is ... just because its on ebay doesnt mean its crap ... just means it COULD be crap haha

I ordered my new core off ebay and I must say that I was VERY impressed with the workmanship when it arrived...we'll see how well it cools...

He just sent be another link... what's your ideas on this one? It's about half the price of the other with shipping, and simmilar size.
