there are much better/cheaper alternatives, i use sagetv, it is kick ass. way better than MCE.

I have the ATI media center that came with my ati video card, I think it's way better than Media Center EXCEPT

Media Center, IMO, is much better if you're burning onto dvds and such. You can rip good qual stuff at lower sizes but with a lot of other software its quite a bit more difficult.
