watch the movie calgary-toronto cause it's about 3 1/2 hours, then toronto-london take sleeping pills. Powerful ones so you can sleep in any position, cause you know how frustrating those small seats get after 7 hours straight.:banghead:

Plus-of course free booze on international flights:D

haha that ain't long.....try Toronto to Delhi....OMG I was going to DIE on that plane. The way home was just murder. Nearly 14 hours I think from Delhi to Toronto....and then RUN to catch the flight from Toronto-->Calgary....and its freaking morning and the sun is shining bright as hell when all I want to do is close my eyes and DIE. Definately bring sleeping pills....

Deprive yourself of sleep before flight, then sleep on plane :)

I don't know about anyone else, but I can't fall asleep on a plane :banghead: :banghead: tried so many times, but I just can't do it...

I usually just watch the movies, or read a few mags and just look out the window, and listen to music...

Well, I'm with GoChris...

SLEEP

But I'm also with Nismodrifter - that ain't that long of a flight. India or how about Egypt or further south in Africa? Most of those you stop in Germany or some shit before continuing and Germany is already further than London...on a recent trip we were up travelling for 27 hours straight (with some layovers)...so 13 seems pretty tame by comparison...

I just hope you don't get screaming kids in the row behind you. That can turn an 8 hour flight into an eternity. Especially if the mother is a retard and lets the kids go crazy.

Ughhh , try going to Egypt , that took 27 hours for some damn reason...

from Calgary - Toronto read a book/ play a game.
Calgary to London - watch the movie they play , if it sucks watch a triology on your labtop , bring an extra battery , at the same time try and fall asleep .... Also when in Toronto get some food from the airport..

I do this same trip a few times a year

If you're watching DVD's on your laptop, you might wanna try ripping them to your harddrive to conserve charge while watching.

Laptops are great, but it only lasts like 3 hours max!! I usually buy a novel a few days behind hand and read it all on the plane.

Do what I did last christmas before my flight. Get under five hours of sleep per night for two weeks (exam week), pull an all nighter partying on the saturday before, right final test and go snowboarding at sunshine on the monday, pack the night before, get another 5 hour sleep, get up and go to the airport. Given it was only a flight to Phoenix it was the best feeling in the world to close my eyes when I got onboard and then open them again to find I was in Phoenix. Had no idea I had slept the 2 1/2 hours or whatever it is. For the really long flight it's all about Ipod and a good novel. Attempt to read the lord of the rings trilogy on the flights!

I am gonna be flying to India in less then a week from Birmingham. I think the flight is about 10 hours or so. Not too too bad. First time I am flying alone, so it should be awesome!! And how can you not like that free booze. I pretty much gonna watch in-flight stuff, listen to music and sleep.

That's not too bad for a flight about two summers ago I spent nearly two days, maybe more than two days in tranist(HK-Bangkok-Bahrain-London-Calgary)I didn't even now the year when I got off the plane. Suprisingly enough sleep takes up about half the time on the flights. Music players, magazines and getting a couple of books that you've always meant to read but never had the time to are all good ways to make the time go by faster. Plus I got to get some pretty random crap at each of the destinations that kept me amused. Never underestimate the conversations to be had with your fellow travellers, some of them have a ton of interesting stuff to talk about and maybe some pretty useful information that you could use when you get to your destination.
