I took one of those this year.. ball was rolling towards the defender, and I'm about 10 yards away.. meanwhile he tries to one-time volley the ball and clear it... I just happen to jump right in front of it.. got me square in the left jaw..

I go down and they say it looks like I got shot by a sniper.. I get up and I felt like I got out of the dentist because my left jaw felt like it was frozen..

The defender comes over, says sorry.. and then he says the ball miss their net by maybe a couple of feet.. would've been the weirdest goal ever scored.. Crazy thing is we were about 10 yards outside the keeper's box.. so that ball went FAR.

I finish the game, stop off at a buddy's house and one of them tells me to look in the mirror.. I look and I see half of the hexagon from the ball planted on my left jaw.. it only lasted a night though..

Not to mention when players are fighting each other for headers. I've seen a soccer match where one guy's front teeth ended up in the top of another guys head. This happened as the guy that jumped first was moving his head down while the guy in front was just jumping up. There are a lot of babies, but you can definitely get hurt pretty bad in that sport.

Yeah dude, same thing happened to me except it hit me in the eye. I didn't go down, but I was definitely out of it for a couple minutes. The next day my eye was really sensitive to changes in light levels.
