Quick Question! Help PLease

Anyway, I was just wondering what kind of Engine is in my 1999 Civic EX (Canadian) My dad says it comes stock with 106hp or something like that, but when I check every site it says it's got 127hp VTEC. Yet when I look on the engine cover it says nothing about VTEC. I also can't seem to find what kind of engine it is on any of the stickers on the car. can someone please help solve this question.

ex is states
si is canadian.

so yours just just a 106 or whatever your dad said
and your engine code should be d16y or something.
if you got the si version it woulda been 127 hp
sir=160.

In Canada, the EX would be the 106hp motor, Si 127hp, SiR 160hp

In the U.S EX would be 127hp, Si 160hp

I assume you are looking at American sites, and buddy, check your owner's manual next time!

you have the EX Canadian 4 door version with the D-series motor with 106hp

EX is the trim model of american version of our SI

Alright, well that's cleared up. I looked in the owners manual, didn't say anything about engine type or HP. Sucks to own a Canadian EX ..damn wish I had that VTEC

LOL I could put on a sticker, but that won't help me feel any better when I try to mash the gas pedal with no response. Anyway the real point of my question is.... Is this even worth modifying? With pure bolt ons what max HP am I looking at? Talking about Pulleys, exhaust, intake, maybe a header.

you can always sell it ... but really, don't waste your money on simple bolt ons. You can spend a grand doing exhaust, CAI, headers and you'll still be pretty slow.

Alright guys thanks for the advice... you've well convinced me that my engine aint worth it. So since I am a complete newb when it comes to engine swaps, how much would a d16 engine swap costs? Also are there any other engine options I could go for besides the d16 (it's kinda expensive and hard to get one of these)

I'm not sure about that myself. I test drove one, up to redline and I didn't even notice the Vtec at all. Well, compared to driving our Lude, its sure as hell wasn't noticeable.

well....they're are many different engines that you could swap in. It all depends on how much money you are willing to spend.

There is the:
B16A(sir)
B18B(integra ls engine)
B18C(gsr)
B18C5(type r)...
and more....

It all depends on how much you want to spend. In my opinion, an engine swap is the only way to go. It's the first mod you should go for! If you have the money, you should swap in an engine and turbo it!! then you'll be really fast! If you just swap in an engine, you'll be faster than before, but you'll be much more satisfied if you turbo your engine. My recommendation is to swap in a B18B and turbo it.
