i was backin up in a parking lot after i checked left and right... and as i backed up it turns out that a car was coming and it hit me.

the car is a 2005 nissan x-trail and the damage that happened was about a 2 inch scratch and a cracked passenger fog light.

the guy took it to the bodyshop recommended by nissan and they quoted him 750.58.

does that sound right.... i called other places and they said roughly " a couple hundred for the light fixture (cause they have to replace the whole thing) and 300 for the painting" but that was over the phone.

any suggestions on good (cheap $$) bodyshops? and does the price he gave me sound right?

thanks in advanced:D

if the accident is your fault the other driver chooses where to go...you don't really have a say in it...

i knicked a saturn going 10 km/h with my beast and two shops quoted around 1600 (cracked those plastic door panels all to hell, it was cold out...they don't "resist denting" in cold weather to well) and the third shop quoted 2400, guess which shop they chose?

and with most newer cars being "plastic" etc instead of metal they can't pul dents or repair things anymore, they have to replace whole sections...

i think the CPS should up the "police sticker" minimum from $1000 to somewhere near $1500-$2000 just because cars arn't made like they used to be...a little bumper crack costs $700 on new cars, where as i can push other cars around with mine (which i have done, not hit, just push, friends etc) and its fine

ciao

I believe if an accident happens in a parking lot there is a no fault law out there. Basically you pay for your damages and he pays for his.

Its 50/50 in parking lot if both parties are in their cars. It only changes if one wasnt in the car. Looks like you are SOL.

In a parking lot, each repairs their own vehicle. Tell him to pay it himself. That's the risk a person takes in parking in an uncontrolled area.

i heard its 50/50 too.....

and for last prodigy... we were both in our cars so im not really SOL:nut:

anyways... i was backing up so i heard that the 50/50 rule does not apply to me. I should contact my insurance company and ask them.

i believe it's only 50/50 if both vehicles are driving in the lot. in this case he was backing out of a parked stall so he has to wait till it's clear before backing out. $750 hurts especially this time of year man. i feel sorry for ya.
