4 in calgary, won 2 ( no payment or demerits). 1 in BC, havnt paid. Keep getting things in the mail saying i wont be able to insure my car in BC (despite me living in alberta, lol), and basically that they are going to rip me to shreds. Anybody know what can actually happen if i dont pay my BC ticket? It was like for $109. Do you think they will sent collection asses on me for just over a hundred dollars? My g/f seems to think so.

I think if you get pulled over next time your in BC, and you still havent paid the ticket, the cops will arrest you. I could be way off but this is what Ive heard, if I am wrong someone plz correct me.

for most people, its to fight the demerit pionts. certain number of tickets/pionts = increase in insurance.

i dont know how it works now, but thats how it was before the reforms.

edit: i had 1. back in 2001. the officer didnt like my "wide" tires. lol kinda my fault, but i was never hassled before.

I know a few quite well, always in my station. Lets just say I could not be driving if it wasnt for him :D

Cuz I'm pretty sure even though people know they messed up, they just don't wanna pay for it. I mean I sure as hell don't want to, who does? I just go to talk to the crown to get the demerits taken off.

I got 3, 2 were getting pulled over, and 1 was photo radar. Got the demerits off the ones where I got pulled over.

2 Speeding Tickets.

1 was for going 77on 60, on Glenmore, right before the 14th Ave Exit, the day they lowered the limit to 60, right before that it was 80 up until you pass 14th.

1 for going 104 on Anderson, got flagged.

Paid both tickets but no demerits.

Just 1 speeding; got pulled over going 140 in 110 on QE Hwy going up to Edmonton.

Within an hour and a half later, when I arrived in Edmonton, I *accidentally* rear-ended someone because the roads were too slippery for me to stop from 5 km/h to 0, and then within 24 hrs later the next day, I hit a curb and slit the tire on the side, thus making it unrepareable. Yeah, as they say, bad things tend to happen in sets of 3. :banghead: :banghead:

First one was a very easy fight, judge actually laughed at the cop (30 zone, ticket for going 30, cop said the "road conditions were too bad"

Second one, going to a Final Exam in review in Edmonton from Calgary, going 160 cuz I knew I was going to be late, cop coming other way. He knew a little about Corrado's and loved them, chatted a bit about the car, he dropped the ticket down to 130 km/h

Last one, was playing designated driver, 90 in a 70

oh yeah i remember in my accord lol 158 in 110 zone..that hurt the wallet and i got one in the company truck 132 in 110 zone

i never speed around rural areas....only go over the posted speed limit in good conditions on the higheway

or in my old truck off the highway..then rip haha

Nothing is wrong with the RCMP. Those open roads are just so tempting in Springbank. I've deserved every ticket i've got but one (long story). I don't have a problem paying them, i've done the crime, i'm just a chince so I like to get them reduced. :D

I lost count at 32.. That's over the 16 years I've been driving tho. I have gotten off of so many it's rediculous, you really owe it to yourself to fight all tickets. I got a 104 in a 50 earlier this year ( cop completely lied about my speed) and I got it reduced to 75 in a 50, which was the actual speed I was going so I can't argue with that.

For some reason I get more tickets in my '85 Civic with all of 50hp then I do with my 130hp superbike or my RB 240. Maybe it's because I drive around pinned everywhere in the Civic.. haha

RCMP is one of the easiest police department in Canada to get into. CPS is toughter. EPS has the hardest physical test in North America.

No offense to the Mounties, though. They are superb cops and have the second nicest uniform in the world.

Both were a long time ago, were pull over style and I didn't fight either since I didn't know any better at the time.

1 ticket when I was 17 years old.

I bought my first mustang, a 1990 dark blue coupe. Well it came with tinted driver and passenger windows. First week I drove it I got nailed for it by calgary police. The next day I tore it off.

Been clean ever since. In fact my insurance rates were just cut in half as of yesterday when I opened my renewal notice!

2 photo radar
5 in calgary in area speeding
1 in toronto speeding
3 tint
1 illegally colored fog lights
2 stunting
1 illegal turn
1 more than one copy of drivers liscence.
and a whack of parking fines.

The reason you fight a ticket is cause the system will allow it. It benefits you. and it's free.
For those who feel they are guilty and that's that... you can still plead guilty to the crown prosecutor and request a reduced penalty for some reason or another be it fanancial desperation, or fisrt offence or i had to pee real bad... seriously they all work.

of all the tickets i've had I've never been required to pay face values of any of them. sometimes they reduce demeritts, sometimes they reduce fines. sometimes they're thrown out.

i've only twice taken a ticket to court. the rest of the time the crown prosecutor will sort the matter out before hand. and it can be delt with as soon as 10 days after you get the infraction.
this is preferred because if you're guilty then any demerits are recorded on your driving record from the date of conviction and not the day you got the ticket. taking a ticket to court can add up to 6 months the the time it takes for the ticket to come off your record.

taking the ticket to court is great if you have a solid case. and you can in crease your odds of the officer not showing up if you call and post pone your court date because you "can't make it" officers will schedule all their appearances on one day. so the further from his schedule that you can post pone the court date, the less likely he is to be able to attend. you're allowed 3 post ponements per infraction.

this is stuff i've learned from personal experience and internet research. I know this works for me and i'm not responsible for anyone else's problems on this matter.

good luck with the law.
and try not to break it. it's the best way out of a ticket.

1 but it was a stupid u-turn ticket, shit were the cops rough i mean it was a deserted road, no traffic for 200 meteres both ways. so i appealed and had demerits tooken off and dropped the payment to 1/4.

other than that, just parking tickets for being 30seconds over the one hour zone... stupid cop i was in class taking a test, and i was the only one ticketed.... 5 cars that were parked in front and behind me were there when i got there and i was the only one with a ticket. :thumbsdow :thumbsdow
