I know I sound like a noob...but can I buy a SATA 3.0Gbps Hard disk and hook it up to a board with SATA 150 slots?

i'm aware that it will run slower but i need the space now more than performance, then i'm gonna upgrade later to the full SATA 3.0Gbps hardware

Yep, it'll work, it'll just be slower than the proper connection. It's like back in the day buying ATA 100/133 HDD's for a mobo that only supports ATA 33/66, just xfers at the highest capable sped of the lowest speed part.
