Like the title says...Or, do you think they will get a new arena?
I just hope they don't move to houston. Winnipeg is ready for a team after giving up the Jets. I hope they go to a canadian city.
They fired eddie olczyk and i think Craig Patrick is next.

They are 100% ready to move. Im sick and tired of hearing the drama around that team, year after year. Get them out of Pittsburgh. I like Winnipegs chances, however, I know some superstars might not want to play there. Who wants to go from someplace like Pittsburgh, to Winnipeg? Maybe Quebec City will get another team.

That would be awesome. Can you imagine the rivalry between Montreal and Qubec?

I'd like to see Hamilton get a team, that would probably hurt Buffalo though.

Winnipeg would be a mistake. If a team couldn't survive there before, what are the chances of it being viable long-term? Would they build a new multi-million dollar arena like Mario wants? Will the Government there pitch in? How will the people think about that? That's the issue at hand here.

Better Winnipeg than Houston or Seattle or San Diego.

Lemeuix has already announced that it is very likely that the Penguin's will be moving unless something amazing happens for a new arena.

Kansas City is in the running for the new team because they are looking for someone to occupy their newly built arena for the wintertime - so i hear.

Quebec City would be great though.
Winnipeg I doubt will get their team back anytime soon.

Winnipeg has only seating capacity for about 15,000 in the MTS Centre. I also dont think they have enough corporate support to be able to sell the entire lower bowl at $100+ per ticket (which they would need to do).

Who knows? Perhaps there will be a miracle on Portage Ave.

That would be interesting! Little rivalry with the Blues.

With Bettman as commissioner. Highly doubt it will be a Canadian designation.

Alaska has a better chance in getting a team.

Foz: I'd love to hear how you came to that conclusion. Do tell.

They aren't moving.

Mario just said they would be gone to light some fires under the city to get a new arena built. The city has been promising this for years, they even built a new casino with the proceeds going towards a new arena but then at the last minute blocked the Pens from making any revenue from it.

The two most likely spots for the next new franchise or relocation are Kansas City or Portland (which apparently has a full arena and the AHL team there draws the largest crowds in the league)

First of all i hate Bettman and i would do anything to see him get his ass fired. Another thing is If expansion has been a success, then why are there less Americans watching hockey now. What's gonna happen when Calgary plays Ottawa in the finals? Or any 2 Canadian teams meet in the finals. NHL will lose alot of money and no one in America is gonna watch 2 Canadian teams play in the finals. It's like having blue jays and expos the world series.

Yeah totally. I watch the finals, no matter who's in em. American's don't care if their team's gone (not all, but as a generalization) and Winnipeg. builds a new arena with that kind of a capacity? Stupid stupid stupid. They do have the fan-base, I lived there when the jets left. It's just the city that wanted no new arena. I'd like to see either

A. Winnipeg (move Minnesota to the Pens current division, put Winnipeg in ours) or...
B. Seattle. Probly not a consideration at the moment, but imagine moving Minnesota over, putting Seattle in our division...Vancouver/Seattle, Calgary/Edmonton, and then Colorado kinda on its own...but those 2 rivalries...holy cow it'd be great.
