Alot of people were pissed off about this, saying that Dodge was sending a ringer car around for the tests. When they heard about this they sent a production car out to SCC, which turned pretty much the same numbers on the dyno again. Someone think that Dodge is back to their old ways of the late 60's and early 70's with underrating hp numbers for insurance purposes? If so, I'm all for it, that means more competitors doing the same shit!! hehe
You think that the R34 Skylines in Japan really only make 276hp from the factory? Please!

the official press release for canada about the srt-4... And Dodge gave a low hp rating because they tested the car with a heat soaked intercooler...

I don't think the one they tested from SCC was a production car.

Wasn't a production car, but it was the same car that made it to production...

Gah, no, go pick up this months SCC. They were sent a full production SRT-4 after recieving bad mail from readers. They took this second Neon and laid down the same #'s on the dyno as the preproduction model they were sent a few months prior.

I'm not worried if you're driving! ;) :dunno: :D
I remember the original SCC test said it came with no mufflers (i think)...and the production would be the same guaranteed.
Does it? haha
I love this car more and more!

for the lazy clickers:
DaimlerChrysler kicked off a frenzy of media events at the 2003 CIAS a day early.
Asserting that Dodge is a brand that is on the move in a big way, Ed Brust, president of DaimlerChrysler Canada, announced that the uncertainty over whether or not the hot Dodge SRT-4 will come to Canada is over. This model will arrive in Canadian dealer showrooms this summer.
In introducing the SRT-4, Brust enlisted the aid of a street-smart sport-compact aficionado named Jimmy, whom he described a “our Director of Youth Marketing,” interpreting his colourful descriptions for the attendant media. “Man, this ride it’s tight! It’s off the hizzies! I’m amped!”,said Jimmy. “That means he likes it,” said Brust.
With a 215-hp, turbocharged and intercooled four cylinder engine, the SRT-4 is the quickest vehicle in the Dodge lineup except for the Viper, according to Brust. It was developed by Chrysler’s Performance Vehicle Operations team, and “PVO won’t put the SRT badge on any vehicle unless it can out-muscle and outrun any comparable production vehicle from our competitor,” he said.
