I just want some opinions on BMW service. I want to hear the bad and good, it seems like all I read about is how bad the service is from BMW but I'm sure they can't be all that bad...

Basically I'm trying to decide whether I want a 325Xi or an IS250AWD and I think the service department may sway my decision...I have an IS300 so I know that I like Lexus service but really how is BMW's?

I don't use the dealership.....I've probably heard all the same stories you have!

I use Sheni's Autotrend.. does great work and knows BMWs inside and out. Factory trained and certified. You can reach him at 243-3232. Been using him for nearly a year now and everytime my car goes in, it comes out better than before...

BMW Gallery is great
However I have warrenty, so it might be different if you don't.
Another thing to keep in mind is to not buy a car if you can't afford to maintain it. BMW maintance is going to run you more then Lexus.

First 3 years or 60,000kms is fully covered by the dealer. Considering you bring the car in every 20,000kms for an oil change, you really aren't getting much!

Not too sure about post warranty and scheduled maintenance programs there after but I imagine them to be expensive!

been driving RX 300 for past two weeks - the list of things that $60 K vehicle shouldn't do it is just way to long, on the other side 95 kms and nothing never went wrong mechanicly .

I owned 318 with 270 kms no problems at all and 325 - very few minor things, that's why I just got 328 for my wife.

Lexus service is great, my uncles RX is right know in service getting 3rd tranny at 109 kms. :thumbsdow

Thats because it was Canadian made..it is unfortunate about the rx because i know exactly what youre talking about. On the other hand BMW has had some poor luck with its e46 m3s, 7 series and x5s.

I currently drive an E46 330ci, and it's my 3rd bimmer. I find that service is always great, and it keeps me satisfied with my ride

yeah ill be buying it brand new so i will have the 4 year/80,000km warranty but im jsut worried that if i decide to keep it past that point it may cost me an arm and a leg but it just seems that there are so many horror stories about the service at the 2 dealerships in calgary...

ahhh don't worry about it man. If you can afford a brand new BMW, what the heck is a few dollars for maintenance 4+years down the road!;) Save $1/day and you'll be ready when that day comes around.

My car hit 80,000km last month and before it did I got the extended 3 years or 60,000km warrenty. For like 4g's it well worth not having to worry about a thing.
