Ouch, thats definatly not good, but WTF was a BMW owner doing buying a shitty air filter (looks like no air filter) Spend the 50 bucks and get a decent one.

I've used those dinky fram filters for years and never had a problem. That could be from a faulty pcv or egr, incorrect filter, or incorrect installation, how are we to know, it's just a pic.

If you are after engine reliability and prolong engine life, paper filters are the way to go. K&N has been notorious for letting dirt through.

If you run an aftermarket reuseable cone type filter, do an oil analysis to see how well your setup is working and then you can revert back to paper if it is letting too much dirt in. This will show up in the Silicon content of the oil.

For some reason, I hear a lot of BMW owners complain about the price of parts, which to me is ridiculous, it's not like they didn't know what they were getting into when they bought a BMW. "But how come an intake for a Honda only costs $80?" I just tell them to go buy the $80 intake an see how it works out. LOL.
