Holy no thread yet, crazy.
So who all is watching the tourney closely?
Canada's biggest round robin test is tomorrow against the states.
Should be a pretty interesting game considering so far against the teams both teams have face, Canada has been all defence and little offence as opposed to teh states all offence little defence approach.
The states are of course favoured with the huge offence power of Johnson, Kessell, Ryan, Schremp, Bourque. Of course they are a little lacking on defence with only Johnson as a stand out. Pretty solid in goal with Schneider.
Hopefully Staal, Barker and Parent can do as much of a job as they can against the States power house offence, with Pogey in net they can expect a few breaks as a result of errors but he cant stop 'em all. If Comeau, Boyd and Chipchurra can make magical thigns happen against the USA's somewhat weak defence we could stand a chance. Downie has been playing exceptional but against an equally tough and physical states team he will have to keep his temper down, as will Pouliot.

No matter the result, should be a very very fast paced and rough game, as long as the officials pull the sticks out of their asses and call it north american style.

GO CANADA GO.

should be interesting how canada responds after 2 "iffy" games... last one was better but they will need to pull all the stops against the usa to get the bye... cant wait

Should be a really good game tonight. I was really surprised at how the US tied Switzerland in their last game.

Hoping for a good game tonight, but Canada is such an underdog team this year. We've only got one guy who was on the team last year!

Go Canada!

BTW, what time does the game start tonight?

Jack Johnson is the biggest bitch on the planet since Bertuzzi.
I hope to hell he is gone from the tournament.
Downie may not be our most skilled player but he sure as hell is our most hardest working, I hated the guy after what he did to Aliou but from this tournament I have seen why he got such raving reviews. Not that I condone such actions.
Anyways, the USA has a big quarterfinal test ahead of them without their best defenceman in the lineup (hopefully).
Hopefully Downie is ok for the semi's so his cheapshots can piss off our opponents.
GO CANADA GO.

That Russia vs USA game didn't end on such a happy note, but it could have been a lot worse. Good on the USA coach for not putting out assholes like Johnson.

The Russians don't stand a chance.

People keep saying Canada won, but for purposes of comparing the two teams it realy was a tie. The score was tied but U.S needed a win to get the bye so they pulled their goalie. Not really that fair to say we won when it was an even match until we scored on an empty net.

habsfan
01-04-2006, 06:41 PM

They took the risk by doing that. Canada won it fair and square.

USA took a gamble and lost. A loss is a loss. Simple as that.

Not a gamble or a mistake, it could be argued Canada played a better tournament, but not game. Like I said, USA HAD to win to get the bye, there was no choice but to pull the goalie. If U.S had tied Canada, Canada would still get the bye.

DelSoln
01-05-2006, 12:52 AM
^It's always a gamble when you pull the net. A mistake? Well not so much because if they tied it would have led to the same result anyways. I also think Canada played a better game overall. They were only outplayed in the second period.

i really hope finland squeezes it out, i really hope that american team which was supposed to dominate goes home empty handed.

Tons of respect for the Finnish team. They do so well and they never have to play dirty.

As usual, no respect for the U.S. They are cocky even when they lose. It's like 90% of them are raised by hyenas.
